Promoting cooperation in cultural and tourism development between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Fukushima City

(Fatherland) - On the morning of February 14 in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong received Mayor of Fukushima City (Japan) Kohata Hiroshi on the occasion of the delegation's visit and work in Vietnam.


At the reception, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong expressed his delight at the positive development of the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with high trust; cooperation between localities, cultural exchange, and people-to-people exchange have been promoted.

According to the Deputy Minister, on the basis of the potential and favorable conditions for cooperation, the two sides can strengthen cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism between Vietnam and Fukushima as well as between Fukushima and localities of Vietnam.

Vietnam – Fukushima can seek further cooperation opportunities through Vietnam's participation in the 2025 Osaka World Expo.

Regarding the cultural field, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong informed that Vietnam has recently successfully organized many cultural exchange festivals in Japanese localities.

The Deputy Minister hoped that the upcoming Vietnamese cultural festival would be held in Fukushima with many special activities. At the same time, he hoped that the local government would actively support this event.

In addition, the Deputy Minister hopes that the two sides will increase the organization of artistic exchanges, and organize art troupes to perform in Fukushima and other localities in Vietnam, including the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra.

Overview of the reception

One of the issues emphasized by the Deputy Minister is the wish that the Fukushima city government will increase care and improve the cultural and spiritual life of the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in this city.

In tourism, the Deputy Minister proposed that Japan soon consider easing visa policies for Vietnamese tourists, considering issuing long-term visas of 5 years and 10 years.

The two sides will facilitate travel procedures to promote passenger exchanges, encourage airlines to increase flight frequencies and consider opening new routes to meet tourist demand.

In addition, the two sides need to increase mutual support in participating in major tourism fairs and events in Vietnam and Japan such as JATA Fair, Vietnam Culture - Tourism Week in Japan, VITM Fair, ITE-HCMC in Vietnam...

Strengthen coordination in research, development and promotion of tourism products suitable to the needs and tastes of tourists from both countries such as eco-tourism, culinary tourism, community tourism, educational tourism, and resort tourism for the elderly.

Agreeing with the proposals of Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong, Mayor of Fukushima City Kohata Hiroshi affirmed that Fukushima always attaches importance to cultural, sports and tourism cooperation with Vietnam.

According to Mr. Kohata Hiroshi, Fukushima always hopes to attract more Vietnamese people to study, work and live. The city identifies taking care of the cultural and spiritual life of the local Vietnamese community as one of its important tasks.

Mr. Kohata Hiroshi said that in the coming time, the city will promote cooperation with Vietnam in promoting cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation through increasing the organization of festivals and exchange activities bearing the cultural imprints of each side.

Expressing his impression of Vietnam's traditional musical instruments, Mr. Kohata Hiroshi said that he really hopes that traditional Vietnamese orchestras will perform in Fukushima. At the same time, he will actively support the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra to perform in the city.

Regarding tourism, regarding Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong's proposal to simplify visa application procedures for Vietnamese citizens, Mr. Kohata Hiroshi said that there will be discussions with the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to study and propose appropriate solutions towards simplifying visa application procedures for Vietnamese citizens.

In addition, Mr. Kohata Hiroshi expressed his wish that Vietnam would open more direct flights, connecting Vietnamese localities with Fukushima.

Regarding sports cooperation, Mr. Kohata Hiroshi expressed his impression of the recent achievements of the Vietnamese women's football team and hoped that the team would soon come to Fukushima to compete in friendly matches and train.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong and Mr. Kohata Hiroshi believed that cooperation in developing culture and tourism between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Fukushima city will be further promoted in the coming time./.
