Accordingly, Mr. Luu Manh Tuong, Mr. Au Anh Tuan and Mr. Tran Duc Hung were appointed by the Minister of Finance to hold the position of Deputy Director of the Customs Department. The term of appointment is 5 years.
The current head of the customs sector is Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - Director of the Customs Department.
It is known that a leader of the Customs Department (formerly the General Department of Customs), Mr. Dinh Ngoc Thang - Deputy Director General - has submitted an application for early retirement 4 years in advance and has been approved by the Ministry of Finance. Mr. Thang has just been appointed to lead the customs sector for nearly a year now.
Regarding the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus, the Customs Department said that 112 civil servants and public employees were approved for early retirement and enjoyed benefits according to the provisions of Decree No. 178.
From March 1, the customs sector will be organized according to a 3-level model from central to local levels.
At the central level, the General Department of Customs was transformed into the Customs Department with 12 units: Inspection - Examination Department, Finance - Administration Department, Customs Management and Supervision Department, Customs Tax Department, Risk Management Department, Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department, Post-clearance Inspection Department, etc.
Locally, 35 previous provincial and municipal customs departments were reorganized into 20 regional customs branches.
For border/outside customs, reorganize current customs branches into border/outside customs.
After the rearrangement and reorganization of the customs sector, the number of units reduced by about 485/902, equivalent to nearly 54%.
