At the invitation of Professor Klaus Schwab - Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will lead a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Government to attend the 54th WEF Annual Meeting, from January 15-19 in Davos (Switzerland).

In an interview with The World & Vietnam Newspaper about the WEF Davos 2024 Conference and the participation of the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation, Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai - Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and other international organizations in Geneva, commented that this year's WEF Conference has special significance and importance in promoting public-private partnership to effectively respond to global challenges, emphasizing the use of technological innovation and artificial intelligence as a driving force for socio-economic development, while having effective solutions to respond to climate change, protect nature and ensure energy.
"Rebuilding trust", restoring open dialogue
Continuing the tradition of more than four decades, since 1971, in Davos - a beautiful town in the Swiss Alps, the 54th WEF Davos Annual Conference will bring together many leaders of States, Governments, major international organizations, multinational companies and scholars, with the consistent spirit of "Openness and Cooperation".
The agenda is expected to include some 2,500 participants from more than 100 governments, major international organizations and some 1,000 multinational companies, entrepreneurs and researchers.
The WEF 2024 also aims to continue to promote its role as a channel to promote public-private cooperation, enhance dialogue and raise awareness of global issues and challenges, while also maintaining the Forum's pioneering position in attracting world leaders to discuss major issues and potential solutions, and engage in collaborative activities to shape global economic agendas, as well as those of regions around the world.
Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai commented that the special feature of this year's WEF Conference is clearly shown in the theme "Rebuilding Trust", showing that the focus of the Conference will be on rebuilding trust, meeting the urgent demands of the era with volatile factors, such as increasing fragmentation, polarization, confrontation between major powers, military conflicts in key areas, urgent global challenges such as climate change, energy transition, application of artificial intelligence for common interests...
To restore and promote collective cooperation activities to effectively respond to current global challenges, the Conference identified the urgent need to strengthen the basic principles that build trust among leaders, including transparency, consistency and management accountability.

Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai said that, in response to the urgent request of the international community, the WEF Davos 2024 Conference Program will focus on discussing 4 main solutions, including:
Building economic policies fit for a new era; Long-term strategies on climate, nature and energy; Artificial intelligence as a driving force for the economy and society; Security and cooperation in a fragmented world.
With the rapid development of technology, the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) will be at the forefront of discussions at this year's WEF Davos Conference, alongside topics such as climate change and global security. This has long been an area of great interest to WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Professor Klaus Schwab.
In 2016, Professor Schwab published the book “ The Fourth Industrial Revolution ”, which led to the establishment of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, with a focus on improving global technology governance to promote socio-economic development that benefits the community.
Identify ways to recover economically in difficult times
According to Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai, choosing the main theme of "Rebuilding trust", as well as many contents and solutions to be discussed at the WEF 2024 Conference, this year's Conference aims to restore open and constructive dialogues between leaders of countries, international organizations and large corporations around the world.

WEF Davos 2024 is an opportunity for participants to look at the main challenges facing the world, as well as the main trends in the future, and to identify ways to recover economically in the context of the global economy still facing many difficulties. Among them, we can see the trend of emphasizing the important role of artificial intelligence, current and future technological innovation that can be effectively utilized as a driving force for socio-economic development, through promoting international cooperation between the public and private sectors, for the benefit of all.
By participating in the WEF 2024 agenda, the Vietnamese high-level delegation plans to make important contributions, with speeches, discussions, and sharing on the key topics of the Conference, offering ideas and policy thinking to develop the socio-economy, improve people's lives in the current important period, contributing to the success of the Conference.
Regarding the activities of the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation at the WEF 2024 Conference, Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai said that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend and speak, sharing Vietnam's vision at the key sessions of the WEF Davos 2024 Conference, including 3 dialogue and discussion sessions: the Vietnam - WEF National Strategy Dialogue session with leading WEF corporations on the topic " Next Horizon: Promoting transformation, opening up new growth drivers in Vietnam ", the Policy Dialogue session " Vietnam: Orienting a global vision ", and the discussion session with a number of ASEAN leaders on " Promoting the role of global cooperation in ASEAN ".
At the same time, the Prime Minister will attend the working session of leaders on " Restoring confidence in the global system " with the participation of leaders of countries, international organizations and multinational corporations. In addition, the Prime Minister leading the high-ranking delegation of our Government will speak at a number of seminars such as Seminar on attracting investment in the semiconductor sector, Seminar on experience and model of developing international financial centers with the participation of leading Swiss financial corporations.
The above topics are all key issues on the Conference's agenda, receiving much attention from countries as well as the international business community, and are also priority areas in Vietnam's development strategy.

Also at this Conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will have bilateral meetings with leaders of several countries and international organizations to further discuss global and regional issues of mutual concern, share policies and experiences, as well as strengthen connectivity activities and expand partnerships.
Working together to solve global challenges
Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai said that to further strengthen cooperation with WEF in the coming time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Founder and Executive Chairman of WEF, Professor Klaus Schwab, will have a meeting and co-witness the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and WEF on developing innovation skills and green transformation; Minutes of Partnership Agreement on establishing the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution between the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and WEF.
These are specific activities to implement the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Vietnam and WEF for the 2023-2026 period signed by the two sides on June 26, 2023, which is an important foundation to promote deeper cooperation in the new period.
