Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte assessed that Vietnam has the potential to develop as an important factor in the global high-tech supply chain.

At the High-tech Business Forum on the afternoon of November 2 in Hanoi, Mr. Mark Rutte said that this visit "not only brings Vietnam new business opportunities but also experience in building a high-tech cooperation ecosystem".

"I hope this is the starting point for an era of cooperation between the two countries, connecting relevant players in the ecosystem, large and small companies, research institutes and industrial organizations of Vietnam and the Netherlands. The government will facilitate and support such cooperation," he said.

According to the Dutch Prime Minister, many foreign high-tech companies have come to Vietnam in recent decades, thereby contributing significantly to exports and domestic GDP. Some Dutch technology companies are also setting foot in Vietnam, such as Besi - a semiconductor company preparing to receive an investment license for a new facility in Ho Chi Minh City.

"I am sure there is more to come, because Vietnam has the potential to grow further as an important player in the global high-tech supply chain. Now is the right time to accelerate that growth," he said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed: "We are committed to ensuring that investors in Vietnam will be successful. We will ensure your legitimate rights and interests in any circumstances."

Reiterating Vietnam's goal by 2030 to become a developing country with a modern economy, surpassing middle income, and by 2045 to become a developed country with high income, the Prime Minister said these are very ambitious goals, so appropriate solutions are needed to achieve them. One of Vietnam's solutions is to identify science, technology, and innovation as new driving forces for development, in addition to strategic breakthroughs in infrastructure, institutions, and human resources.

"In that general strategy, we want to build a favorable investment environment, encouraging investors in many fields, especially high-tech investors," the Prime Minister emphasized.

To attract businesses, he said Vietnam ensures a stable political, security, and macroeconomic environment for investors to operate long-term. Regarding infrastructure, Vietnam has promoted investment in transport infrastructure to serve logistics activities. Regarding the law, it has created a favorable environment in terms of administrative procedures and policy mechanisms. These measures help businesses reduce input costs for products, thereby increasing competitiveness in the market.

At the forum, 25 Dutch enterprises were also present and sought cooperation opportunities. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on Dutch enterprises to invest in Vietnam, especially high-tech companies in the fields of digital transformation, energy, circular economy, and sharing economy.

"Vietnam is the Netherlands' largest partner in ASEAN, and the Netherlands is also Vietnam's largest investment partner and second largest trade partner in Europe. With the existing foundation and the conditions we have achieved, I believe the future will be better," said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also suggested that businesses at the forum could refer to the investment activities of Korean businesses when entering Vietnam, typically Samsung. From an initial investment of several billion USD, Samsung has now invested 20 billion USD. "I hope high-tech companies refer to the experience Samsung has done with Vietnam. We will respond, discuss, and share these experiences so that you can work better," he said.
