The Vietnamese disabled sports delegation held a ceremony to send off their troops to the 2023 ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh tried to encourage the entire delegation before their departure.
In the letter, the Prime Minister stated: " I understand that the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation will attend the 12th Southeast Asian Para Games (ASEAN Para Games) from May 28 to June 9 in Cambodia. Due to work conditions, the Government leaders were unable to arrange to attend the Delegation's departure ceremony before attending this event. On behalf of the Government, I would like to send to all members of the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation my best wishes for health, victory and success ."

Para Games, along with the Asian Para Games and Paralympic Games, are international playgrounds for people with disabilities. Here, athletes have the opportunity to compete, demonstrate their strong will and overcome difficulties; at the same time, bring glory to the individual in particular and the country in general, thereby contributing to the construction and development of society.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the role of athletes: " The Party and the State, all levels, sectors and the whole society always pay attention to the cause of developing physical education and sports in general and physical education and sports for people with disabilities in particular. I see that physical education and sports for people with disabilities in our country have been developing positively, helping people with disabilities improve their health, at the same time perfect themselves, confidently integrate into the community, and rise up in life. I know that Vietnamese sports for people with disabilities have participated in many sports events in the region, continent and the world, and have achieved outstanding results, including gold medals at the Paralympic Games; many athletes have become shining examples of the will and aspiration to overcome adversity to rise up, making practical contributions to society and the country ."
The Prime Minister sent his best wishes and hopes that the Vietnamese sports delegation will achieve the best results at this congress.
" On this occasion, I hope and believe that the members of the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation, especially the athletes, will continue to maintain and promote their will, efforts and highest determination to achieve more outstanding achievements, and win glorious victories at this congress; contribute to spreading the spirit of optimism, determination and good values in society, especially for people with disabilities; promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam, and strengthen solidarity, friendship and cooperation among countries in the Southeast Asian region.

At the 2023 Para Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation will participate with 164 members, including 127 athletes. The delegation will participate in 8/13 events, including: weightlifting, badminton, athletics, swimming, judo, table tennis, chess and boccia.
