In the letter, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung wrote:
"Since the biggest sports event in the continent - Asian Para Games 4 officially started in Hangzhou, China, the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation has shown its bravery, determination, competed with a noble sportsmanship spirit, the desire to win in every match and achieved many impressive results. Today, we are even more happy and excited when athlete Le Tien Dat excellently won the gold medal in the men's 100m breaststroke, SB5 category.
The achievements of the entire delegation in the past competition days and athlete Le Tien Dat today are the result of the efforts and dedication of each athlete, coach and the entire Vietnam Sports Delegation for the Disabled, for the "color and flag" of the Fatherland.
Athlete Le Tien Dat won the first gold medal for the Vietnamese delegation at the 4th Asian Para Games.
At the 4th Asian Para Games, on the 5th day of competition, the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation won the first gold medal. This achievement belongs to athlete Le Tien Dat in swimming.
In the final of the 100m breaststroke, SB5 disability category, Le Tien Dat finished first with a time of 1 minute 34 seconds 04. Compatriot Do Thanh Hai won the silver medal with a time of 1 minute 35 seconds 11. The bronze medal went to Chinese swimmer Luo Jinbiao with a time of 1 minute 50 seconds 24.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung congratulated the achievements of athlete Le Tien Dat in particular and the Vietnam Sports Delegation for People with Disabilities in general. Minister Nguyen Van Hung hopes that this achievement will motivate the athletes of the delegation to achieve more achievements.
" On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and with my personal feelings, I would like to warmly commend and send my warmest congratulations to the entire Vietnamese Sports Delegation for their solidarity, efforts in competing and winning 1 gold medal, 7 silver medals, 6 bronze medals, especially athlete Le Tien Dat who competed courageously, resiliently, excellently overcame strong opponents and won the prestigious 4th Asian Para Games gold medal.
I hope that the members of the Vietnam Paralympic Sports Delegation will strive to practice and compete with the highest determination to continue to achieve even more outstanding results in the following days of the Congress ," Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized.
The Vietnamese disabled sports delegation attended the 4th Asian Para Games with 71 members (48 athletes), competing in 7 events: athletics, swimming, weightlifting, chess, table tennis, badminton, and taekwondo.
The delegation aims to win 3-4 gold medals and have athletes qualified for the 2024 Paralympics.
