Prime Minister attends national conference on culture, sports and tourism

(NLDO) - The cultural industry has made breakthroughs with programs of great stature, appeal and social impact.

On the morning of December 18 at the Government Office, Hanoi, the conference to review 2024 and deploy key tasks for 2025 of the culture, sports and tourism sector took place with the theme "Building an advanced culture imbued with national identity - The driving force for national development in the new era, the era of the Vietnamese people's rise". Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and chaired the conference.

The conference was connected online from the main bridge at the Government headquarters to the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with 772 bridges at the People's Committees of provinces, centrally-run cities and district-level People's Committees.

Speaking at the conference, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said that with the determination to create a breakthrough in the work of building and perfecting institutions, concretizing the guidelines, policies and laws of the Party and State on the development of culture, sports and tourism, the whole sector has thoroughly grasped and promptly implemented the resolutions and conclusions of the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the National Assembly, closely following the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, based on the practical situation, actively and proactively implementing tasks with the theme of the year: "Dedication - Professionalism - Expertise - Modernity - Solidarity - Discipline - Accelerating to the finish line". The fields of culture, sports and tourism have achieved clearer results in terms of awareness, action and results.

The change in awareness and thinking from "doing culture" to "state management of culture" is increasingly improved and perfected, approaching in depth. The Ministry has focused on reviewing, promoting the amendment, supplementation, and perfecting of specialized legal policies with 20 legal documents, contributing to removing "bottlenecks" and "knots" to initially create development space.

The completion of the legal system on cultural heritage has created an important legal corridor, contributing to removing difficulties and obstacles and transforming cultural assets into development resources. Many cultural heritages have been recognized by UNESCO, and the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage has had many positive changes.

In 2024, 9 more relics will be ranked as special national relics, 32 relics will be ranked as national relics, and 55 national intangible cultural heritages will be registered. Notably, Vietnam will have 2 more heritages recognized by UNESCO.

In addition, national and regional cultural and artistic events continue to be organized in close association with political tasks and tasks of building a grassroots cultural environment.

Since the first National Conference chaired by the Prime Minister in December 2023, the cultural industry has made breakthroughs with programs of great stature, appeal and social impact. In the field of cinema and performing arts, there have been many outstanding cultural industry products, such as the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024, the 1st International Jazz Festival - Nha Trang 2024, the "sold-out" shows of the programs Anh trai vu ngan cong thorn, Anh trai say hai are vivid evidence in implementing the Prime Minister's Directive on promoting the development of cultural industries.

Vietnamese sports are based on two pillars: sports for everyone with the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" in the spirit of "Strong people - Prosperous country".

High-performance sports won a total of 482 gold medals, 360 silver medals, and 372 bronze medals at international sports tournaments. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team won the bronze medal at the Women's Volleyball World Cup for the first time and the gold medal at the Asian Volleyball Cup for the second time. The Vietnamese women's futsal team excellently won the Southeast Asian championship.

Tourism development in a sustainable direction is assessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh as a bright spot in the country's socio-economic picture.

In addition to 5 groups of branded tourism products, many new tourism products have been developed and put into service for tourists such as: Hue - Da Nang Heritage Train; Nam Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Road - A place to return to the roots... Vietnam hosted the first International Conference on Rural Tourism.

International tourists to Vietnam reached the set target of 17-18 million; domestic tourists were estimated at 110 million. Total revenue from tourists was estimated at about 840,000 billion VND.

Vietnam was honored as "World's Leading Heritage Destination" and for the fourth consecutive time was honored as "Asia's Leading Destination".
