Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc emphasized that international cooperation in education and training has always been identified as one of the key tasks and solutions to innovate and improve the quality of higher education, contributing to improving the quality of human resources to meet the requirements of socio-economic development and international integration.

In nearly 40 years of national innovation and development, especially in the last 10 years, international cooperation activities in the field of education and training have achieved remarkable achievements, contributing significantly to enhancing the prestige and position of Vietnamese education in the international arena, improving the quality of human resources, promoting international understanding, people-to-people diplomacy and serving as a foundation for other cooperation activities.

In the context of internationalization of education being a global trend, Vietnam has continuously promoted cooperation and investment with foreign countries in education. Vietnam has established educational cooperation relations with over 100 countries and territories, and is an active member of international and regional organizations.

As of June 30, 2024, Vietnam has attracted 605 foreign investment projects in the education sector with a total investment capital of over 4.57 billion USD; about 430 training programs in cooperation with foreign countries are implemented at 65 domestic higher education institutions; there are 5 foreign-invested higher education institutions operating in Vietnam.

In the coming time, the Ministry of Education and Training emphasizes three priorities in attracting foreign cooperation and investment in Vietnam's education, which are: attracting prestigious foreign universities to establish branches in Vietnam; promoting cooperation between Vietnamese higher education institutions and prestigious foreign universities; increasing student exchanges and attracting international students to study in Vietnam.

At the conference, Ms. Donna McGowan, Director of the British Council in Vietnam, said that it is necessary to have an effective policy framework, creating a constructive environment to encourage international interactions, bringing positive experiences, so that students, teachers, managers and investors feel suitable. At the same time, to become a global destination, many factors need to be prepared such as suitable geographical location, appropriate approach, effective and uniform policies nationwide.

Vietnam welcomes and creates the best conditions for investors and partners to cooperate and invest in the education sector, not only focusing on big cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, but also many other potential destinations such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, etc.
