On the morning of March 16, Mr. Trinh Quang Huy, Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Customs Department, said that in the peak period of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods before, during and after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024, import-export, immigration and transit activities under the management of Thanh Hoa Customs Department continued to be well controlled, most enterprises complied with the law, and no major smuggling or trade fraud cases were detected. The inspection and supervision of import and export goods were fully implemented, both facilitating import and export activities of enterprises and ensuring political security, social order and safety, and preventing loss of state budget revenue.

During this peak, the customs agency coordinated with the authorities to arrest 4 cases, 6 subjects, seized 18.9 kg and 170 pills of various types of drugs, along with 2 military pistols and 100 bullets.

Typically, on December 21, 2023, the Na Meo International Border Gate Customs Branch and the Drug Control and Prevention Team (Provincial Customs Department), the Na Meo International Border Gate Border Guard Station, and the Drug and Crime Prevention and Control Task Force (Provincial Border Guard) successfully coordinated to fight the Joint Project coded TH823, destroying a drug trafficking and transportation ring with a large quantity of drugs from Laos through the Na Meo International Border Gate into Vietnam. The authorities arrested Thao Kong Vang Xong Xay Vu, residing in Bo Ly Kham Xay province, Lao PDR, and seized 17.7 kg of various drugs and 2 military pistols with 100 bullets.

This achievement was commended by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Head of the National Steering Committee against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, on February 7, 2024.

Also according to Mr. Trinh Quang Huy, during the peak of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods before, during and after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024, the customs authority discovered, recorded and handled 13 administrative violations with a total fine of 109.4 million VND.
