(NLDO) - After receiving the functions and tasks, Binh Thuan Provincial Police have consolidated the drug addiction treatment facility and plan to expand the scale to more than 1,000 students.
On the afternoon of February 27, Binh Thuan Provincial Police coordinated with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) to organize a handover ceremony to receive the task of state management of drug addiction treatment and post-rehabilitation management.
At the ceremony, Binh Thuan Provincial Police announced the decisions of the Provincial Police Director on the transfer of 11 police officers to work at the Drug Addiction Treatment Facility under the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department.
The two sides signed a handover of management tasks for the drug rehabilitation facility.
Before the merger, the Binh Thuan Province Drug Addiction Treatment Facility had 46 officers, civil servants and contract workers; managing more than 380 compulsory drug addiction treatment students.
Currently, the facility has completed the project to upgrade the facilities and infrastructure to increase the capacity to 630 students and can increase the number of students from 630 to 650 - 700 students.

To avoid affecting the management of drug addiction treatment and the lives of workers, Binh Thuan Provincial Police will arrange 13 permanent police officers, 10 conscripts and 35 contract workers. In the immediate future, the Provincial Police will sign labor contracts with 23 civil servants and contract workers who are currently working and wish to stay and serve at the Drug Rehabilitation Center with police officers to perform their duties.
Binh Thuan Police leaders visit drug rehabilitation facility
Starting from March 1, 2025, the state management function of drug addiction treatment and post-rehabilitation management from the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to the Binh Thuan Provincial Police will take effect.
Currently, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province has approved a plan to build a new drug rehabilitation facility in Thuan Minh commune, Ham Thuan Bac district, with an area of up to 190,000 m². This facility can accommodate up to 1,000 students, helping to expand the scale of treatment and reduce pressure on the existing facility.
