Import and export sector

On Banking Times there is an article : "Export 2025: Difficulties and expectations".

According to experts, the trade war between major economies continues to have two-way impacts on Vietnam's exports. On the positive side, the shift in supply chains helps Vietnam benefit as many international businesses seek new production locations. However, increasing trade barriers, taxes and stricter standards from major partners may make it difficult for Vietnamese exporters to maintain orders. BIDV Bank's Research Team assessed the possibility that Vietnam may be subject to tariffs under three scenarios. In the base scenario (with a probability of 50%), the US may impose a tax rate corresponding to the rate Vietnam is imposing on imports from the US, according to the "reciprocal" tax policy. In the negative scenario (25% probability), the US may increase taxes to 10% on imports from Vietnam, similar to some other countries under President Trump's previous policy. In the positive scenario (with a probability of 25%), the US will not impose additional taxes or only adjust higher tax rates on certain specific products such as steel and aluminum. At that time, Vietnamese goods will compete more fairly with other countries and still have the opportunity to maintain export targets. Therefore, to minimize negative impacts, the participation of both the State and enterprises is needed. In particular, it is necessary to focus on measures to promote mutually beneficial cooperation with the US in many fields, strengthen foreign channels, and consider implementing some measures to balance trade with the US. At the same time, it is necessary to steadfastly diversify markets, partners, and products; and make better use of signed FTAs.

On Saigon Giai Phong newspaper there is an article: "Vietnam's rice export price increased for 2 consecutive weeks".

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in February 2025, Vietnam exported about 560,000 tons of rice, worth 288.2 million USD. In the first two months of this year, the total volume of exported rice reached 1.1 million tons, equivalent to 613 million USD, up 5.9% in volume but down 13.6% in value compared to the same period last year.

In the first two months of this year, rice export volume reached 1.1 million tons, equivalent to 613 million USD.

Experts say the international rice market is going through a slowdown compared to the normal cycle. The main reason is the abundant global rice supply, which has prevented export prices from increasing sharply.

In that context, to maintain sustainable growth, domestic enterprises are advised to proactively expand exports to new markets such as Europe, the US, Japan, the Middle East, Africa, etc., and at the same time take advantage of free trade agreements to increase competitive advantage.

Trade Defense Sector

The News newspaper published the information: '' The United States received anti-dumping documents on polypropylene plastic boxes imported from Vietnam''.

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has received a request for an anti-dumping investigation into polypropylene plastic containers imported from Vietnam and an anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation into the same product from China. Vietnam is only proposed for an anti-dumping investigation, not a countervailing investigation. The product proposed for investigation: Polypropylene plastic containers under HS code 3923.10.9000. Case code: A-552-850. Plaintiffs are CoolSeal USA Company, Inteplast Group Company and SeaCa Plastic Packaging & Technology Container Company. The petition names 7 Vietnamese companies. In case of initiating an investigation, DOC will most likely issue a Volume and Value questionnaire (with a response period of 14 days) to related enterprises to collect information, in order to select a mandatory defendant (usually the 2 largest exporting enterprises of Vietnam according to US Customs data and the Volume and Value questionnaire during the investigation period).

On vietnam.vn there is an article : "India receives a request for an anti-dumping investigation into medical rubber gloves originating or imported from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam".

The Directorate General of Trade Remedies of India has announced that it has received a request for an anti-dumping investigation into medical rubber gloves originating or imported from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam (Currently, there is no further information about the products under investigation). Competition and Consumer Protection

Quang Ninh newspaper has an article: "Taking care of consumer rights protection".

Consumer protection is becoming increasingly important in the context of sustainable socio-economic development and international economic integration. In Quang Ninh, authorities and businesses have many key solutions to ensure consumer safety in the process of choosing and using goods and services in the context of many fraudulent acts and violations of consumer rights today.

Currently, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the province, although not prominent, still contains complex and unpredictable factors. In particular, the use of e-commerce sites, electronic applications, social networking sites to livestream sales via Facebook, Zalo, Shopee, TikTok... with business locations being houses in residential areas, apartments in apartment buildings or from other provinces, makes it very difficult for authorities to determine business locations.

Faced with this situation, the provincial Market Management Department has strengthened market inspection and control, minimizing violations of the law in trading and business activities in the province. In particular, the provincial Market Management force focuses on inspection and coordination with related units to ensure the safety and quality of goods, clear price listing, product origin, etc. In particular, with the strong explosion in the digital age as it is today, the unit also focuses on controlling business and trading activities on the internet environment, preventing fraud, appropriation, and sale of products of unknown origin.
