Opening of the bridge with the image of 'Cranes attending Thien Mu' across the Perfume River

Attending the ceremony were comrades Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat; Mai Van Chinh, Deputy Prime Minister; Vu Hong Thanh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; and leaders of Hue city.

Hue City People's Committee said that the project to build a bridge over the Huong River and Nguyen Hoang Street has a total investment of more than 2,281 billion VND from the state budget.

Of which, the Huong River overpass is about 380 m long, a steel arch bridge with 5 girder spans. The width is 43 m (equal to the width of Nguyen Hoang Street and Ring Road 3) including 8 lanes. On the ground, the sidewalks are branched down to the park on both sides of the river by 4 curved branch bridges.

Nguyen Hoang Street (the branch road leading to the overpass on the northern bank of the Huong River) has a route length of about 1,018 m. The cross-section of the route is 43 m wide, including a 6-lane roadway, a 5 m wide median strip and sidewalks on both sides.

The bridge over the Perfume River is designed with the image of "Crane attending Thien Mu", carrying the message of the eternity of a sacred place where the spiritual energy of heaven and earth converges and harmonizes. The two arched planes of the bridge symbolize the wings of a crane landing on the Perfume River, located on Nguyen Hoang Street, the crane's head facing Thien Mu Pagoda. The "V" shaped bridge pillars symbolize a flock of cranes flapping their wings to gather here. The lamp posts are designed with parasols, which were used by kings and lords in ancient times.

The project started construction on December 22, 2022, the project progress according to the contract is 1,090 days. However, with the determination to complete the project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hue City Liberation Day, after 814 days of construction, on March 25, 2025, the project was completed and technically opened to traffic (276 days ahead of schedule).

This is a key project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hue Liberation Day (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2025) and the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Hue City Party Committee (April 1930 - April 2025).

The leader of Hue City People's Committee said that Nguyen Hoang Bridge is located on Ring Road 3, the main road connecting the Northwest region with the Southwest region of Hue City; the completion of the project will create conditions for the development of new urban areas along the route according to the inter-regional planning (west An Hoa - Huong So - Huong Long - Kim Long; residential area west of Hue City and Thuy Xuan area); has a spillover effect, realizing new urban areas according to the construction planning of Hue City approved by the Prime Minister.

The project contributes to completing the main traffic network according to the approved planning, improving traffic capacity, reducing congestion and reducing the load on parallel and radial routes through the center of Hue city. Creating a driving force to promote socio-economic development, tourism and services and improve people's lives; forming and developing satellite cities, urban areas, new residential areas, expanding urban development space, effectively exploiting, enhancing the value of land funds, increasing revenue for the local budget.
