TPO - The incident has been going on since February 2024, but to this day the parties have not found a complete solution.
On September 12, at a press conference on the socio-economic situation in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Dang Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of Gia Dinh Water Supply Joint Stock Company, informed about the water bill of 57 million VND for Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy's family (490/35 Le Van Sy, Ward 14, Phu Nhuan District).

Accordingly, the incident has been going on since February 2024, but to date, the parties have not yet found a thorough solution. Mr. Ha said that through information reported by the press, the water supply company has received information that Mr. Huy's family has filed a lawsuit with the People's Court of District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Ha said that after receiving the water bill with the amount of 57 million VND, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy's family did not agree so they requested a water meter inspection. However, Mr. Huy later changed his mind from inspection to water meter appraisal. After being instructed by the water supply company on the procedures for carrying out the appraisal, the family decided to transfer the information to the Ho Chi Minh City Consumer Protection Association.
The water supply unit has received information from the Consumer Protection Association regarding the contents related to the incident. Gia Dinh Water Supply Company and Mr. Quoc Huy's family have worked together many times but the two have not reached an agreement. Mr. Quoc Huy's family has filed a lawsuit with the People's Court of District 3.
After the incident, while waiting for solutions, the company said that it had calculated that Mr. Quoc Huy's family consumed an average of 20 cubic meters of water per month. However, the family had not yet fulfilled their obligations on the water bill from the 5th to the 8th period. "Gia Dinh Water Supply Joint Stock Company sent Mr. Huy's family a notice of temporary suspension of water supply due to unpaid bills for 4 periods. After sending the notice, the company is still supplying water normally to the family until the court's decision is made, then we will comply," said Mr. Ha.
In the water consumption index recording period of January 2024, Mr. Huy's family was not at home, so the staff of Gia Dinh Water Supply Joint Stock Company could not record the water index, so it was temporarily calculated as 20m3. In the water recording period of February, the water index was recorded by the water supply company as 3,355 m3, the monthly consumption was equivalent to 3,026 m3. With this amount of water, Mr. Quoc Huy's family received a bill with an amount to pay of more than 57 million VND.
