In the joyful atmosphere of the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2024), I am very moved to attend the 18th National Press Awards Ceremony. First of all, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, I would like to send to generations of journalists, journalists, and the press public at home and abroad the warmest sentiments, kind regards, and best wishes of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; I would like to wish veteran journalists, cadres, and journalists nationwide, as well as all comrades, delegates, and listeners watching television good health, happiness, and many successes in work and life.
Dear delegates, journalists, readers and audiences nationwide!
The Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, founded by beloved President Ho Chi Minh, under the leadership of the Party, with the noble and sacred goal of serving the Fatherland and the People, has, over 99 years of establishment and development, clearly demonstrated its important role in the struggle for national liberation and reunification in the past, as well as in the current cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland.
Overcoming all difficulties and challenges, not afraid of hardships and sacrifices, ready to rush into the waves and winds, generations of journalists have joined hands and united in building a press that is truly the voice of the Party and the people; a trustworthy bridge between the people and the Party and the State; a bridge between the Party, the State, our people and international friends. In the process of accompanying the revolutionary cause of the Party, the press and the team of journalists have constantly matured and grown, actively propagating, motivating and encouraging the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army to successfully implement the Party's correct guidelines and policies, arousing the burning desire to develop an independent, prosperous, happy and powerful country.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I warmly commend, acknowledge and highly appreciate the achievements and results of the press and journalists in the cause of national liberation, construction and development of the country over the past 99 years.
Warm congratulations to 122 authors and groups of authors who were awarded the 18th National Press Award - the most prestigious award of the Journalists Association for journalistic works, honoring authors and groups of authors with the best works in 2023. The works winning the 18th National Press Award reflect the vibrant labor picture of the press nationwide in the past year, and at the same time represent the great achievements of the Vietnamese press team towards the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

In 2025, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, in the context that the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army are making efforts to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, bringing the country to successfully complete the goal of 100 years under the leadership of the Party, 100 years of the founding of the country, by the middle of the 21st century, our country will become a developed country with high income, following the socialist orientation. This poses great requirements and tasks, and is also extremely glorious for the press and the team of journalists in propaganda, creating social consensus and collective strength to successfully implement the Party's policies and guidelines; at the same time, building a professional, humane, and modern press and media.
First of all, I propose to focus on building a team of journalists who are truly soldiers on the cultural and ideological front, with "bright minds, pure hearts, sharp pens", "both red and professional", and must always keep in mind Uncle Ho's teachings: "If you don't know clearly, don't understand clearly, don't say, don't write; when there is nothing to say, nothing to write, don't say, don't write", "all journalists must have a firm political stance. Politics must be in charge. Only when the political line is correct can other things be correct"; firmly adhere to the ideals and noble values of journalism, adhere to principles, maintain professional ethics, have an offensive spirit, fight to eliminate the bad, the wrong, protect the right, the good, always wholeheartedly and with all their might for the common cause.
Second, promote the role of the press - a tool for social struggle, national struggle, class struggle, truly a sharp weapon, an effective tool of the Party on the ideological front, have more press works with high theoretical and political value. Focus on propagating, encouraging, and rallying the masses to implement the Party's leadership; educate and guide all social classes to act according to socialist standards and ethics; fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints; actively participate in the fight against corruption and negativity; overcome the situation of pure information, a mere entertainment tool; constantly arouse and encourage the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country, the will to overcome difficulties and challenges, and optimism, self-reliance, self-reliance, national pride, build and promote the great national unity bloc, creating a driving force for the country's development.
Third, enhance the cultural value in journalistic works. Each journalistic work must be a spiritual and cultural product with high value and use value, standard in content, fresh and attractive in form, modern in expression and distribution methods. Journalistic works must constantly preserve and promote Vietnamese ethical values and cultural identity; shape and spread cultural standards of behavior in society, contributing to the building and development of Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of building and defending the Fatherland in the new period.
Fourth, the press strongly promotes digital transformation and innovation; revolutionary press information must truly become the mainstream information in the digital space. Clearly define goals and roadmaps, implement digital transformation strongly and with specific results. Focus on promoting all elements in the stages of digital transformation of the press, focus on training human resources on digital platforms, human resources in professional expertise. Pay special attention to researching the public and product forms that are attractive, highly interactive, and widely spread among the public, especially the young public.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed: "Journalism is a noble profession, but extremely arduous and difficult". To become pioneers on the ideological and cultural front, to be "secretaries of the times", to become "gatekeepers of the people", revolutionary journalists must meet high demands in terms of intelligence, courage, sense of responsibility and dedication, and must constantly strive to study journalism theory, profession and modern media technology.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I highly appreciate and respectfully commend the great and important achievements of journalists across the country over the past year. Once again, I warmly congratulate the journalists who were honored to receive the 18th National Press Award.
I believe that, continuing the 99-year tradition of establishment and development, with experience, courage, and will, the team of journalists - the vanguard force on the cultural and ideological front of the Party, will excellently complete all tasks entrusted to us by the Party, the State, and the people.
