“As a result, the inspection team of Thai Binh province determined that 2,769 essay tests had incorrect scores and 1,589 candidates had incorrect total admission scores.
The cause was determined to be due to the process of retrieving the test scores (matching the scores) being wrong, including more than 1,400 test scores being lower and nearly 1,370 test scores being higher than previously announced," according to the news report.
According to Tuoi Tre Online , this afternoon, August 19, the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province issued Official Dispatch No. 928 announcing the results of admission to grade 10 of public high schools after inspection.
Specifically, the announcement stated that the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh announced the exam scores and benchmark scores for the entrance exam to grade 10 of high school for the 2024-2025 school year in Thai Binh province on the Thai Binh province's primary admission system.
The Department of Education and Training requests high schools and education and training departments to direct secondary schools to promptly notify students of the time to announce exam scores starting from 9:00 a.m. tomorrow, August 20. Parents denounce the director of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh
Previously, the 10th grade entrance exam in Thai Binh province took place from June 6 to 8. On June 16, students started looking up their exam scores, many students discovered that their scores were unusually low. After that, some parents and students submitted appeals.
The review results showed that many candidates (mainly candidates applying to Thai Binh High School for the Gifted and Nguyen Duc Canh High School - the top schools in the province) had their initial announced scores in literature and math at only 2 - 4 points, but after the review, they increased to 8 - 9.5 points.
There was a case where a candidate's math exam score for grade 10 was announced to be only 3.75 points, but the re-examination result increased to 9.5 points (a difference of 5.75 points).
Regarding this incident, representatives of some parents whose children will take the 10th grade entrance exam in Thai Binh province for the 2024-2025 school year filed a complaint against Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province - and those involved in the admission work in the 10th grade entrance exam.
On the evening of July 31, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province issued a decision to temporarily suspend Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien from work starting from July 31 to serve the inspection of the organization of the entrance exam for grade 10 high school. The suspension period is 15 days.
On the same day, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province issued a decision assigning Mr. Pham Van Nghiem, member of the provincial Party Committee and vice chairman of the provincial People's Committee, to be in charge of managing the activities of the Thai Binh Department of Education and Training during the time Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien was temporarily suspended from work.
