The General University Building, formerly the Indochina University, opened its doors to visitors for the first time with creative art exhibitions.
Within the framework of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024, the University building – the “Cathedral of Knowledge” of the Capital – is attracting public attention. The building is a familiar place for Hanoians, now it will be explored from a new perspective, with unique creative experiences.
Built in 1926 and officially becoming Hanoi University in 1956, this ancient building still retains the Indochinese architectural style, with a high dome design, a stone-paved hall and typical ironwork. Not only does it have historical significance, it is also the place where many leading scientists and researchers in Vietnam are trained. At the festival, the main hall and the ceiling of the building will come alive through the interactive art exhibition "Indochinese Sensation" with 22 light and art installations. The highlight of the exhibition is the combination of sculpture, images and sounds, to honor the architectural and artistic heritage of the Indochina period. Tin Tuc Newspaper would like to introduce the architectural image of the "Sanctuary of Knowledge": Interactive art exhibition complex "Indochina Sensation" at the University building, 19 Le Thanh Tong. The main hall of the building has a dome and tall decorative columns.
Here, there are decorative works including chandeliers by architect Le Phuoc Anh; works of doctoral stele installation on light-conducting mica material, engraved, inspired by the decorative design project of the Indochina University building by architect Ernest Hebrard.
Even after nearly 100 years, on the ceiling of the building there is still an image of two phoenixes, a symbol of authority in East Asian culture.
Hanoi National University building almost completely retains the beauty of classical architecture. The front of the building is decorated with glass panels by artists.
The structure of the dome remains durable over time. "Indochina Maze" on display in the hallway. Many people are interested in the cluster of unique interactive artworks, evoking old feelings about Indochina architecture and fine arts. Due to limited space, the organizers divided the group into small groups of 10-20 people to explore in turn. On the 2nd floor is the visiting space of the Biological Museum with full animal models such as tigers, chimpanzees, buffaloes, deer... In addition, there are many unique works for visitors to experience until November 17, 2024.
