Photo: Thainguyentv[/caption] In 2023, in Plan No. 75/KH-UBND on the implementation of the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2023 in the province, Thai Nguyen sets a target of reducing 4,711 poor and near-poor households. Of which, 3,365 are poor households and 1,346 are near-poor households according to the national multidimensional poverty standards. The province also plans to support the construction and replication of at least 20 poverty reduction models and projects to support the development of production, business, services, tourism, startups, and business startups to create livelihoods, jobs, and sustainable income for poor households, near-poor households, and newly escaped poverty households; Strive to support poor and near-poor households with at least one member of working age who is capable of participating in labor to have sustainable employment; Strengthen vocational training and job introduction for poor and near-poor households, especially in rural, mountainous and ethnic minority areas; and Integrate poverty reduction activities into the National Target Program on New Rural Development. Thai Nguyen's report shows that these policies to support the poor and poor households have initially achieved some remarkable results such as: 100% of poor people and people in near-poor households are granted health insurance cards, in which the province supports an additional 30% of health insurance premiums for near-poor households; exempt and reduce tuition fees for students, ethnic minorities and the poor; social subsidies for students in disadvantaged areas; housing support for 1,238 poor and near-poor households; creating new jobs for workers in rural, remote and isolated areas. In addition to the mechanisms, policies, and poverty reduction support projects prescribed by the Government, based on the local practical situation, Thai Nguyen province has developed the Project "Socio-economic development, stabilizing production and life in particularly difficult hamlets and villages with many Mong ethnic people living" in 4 districts: Dong Hy, Vo Nhai, Dinh Hoa, Phu Luong. Photo: mattran.org.vn[/caption] 35 projects have been approved and implemented, with the participation of nearly 700 poor households, near-poor households, and newly escaped-poverty households. Notable among them are projects to develop a model of bamboo shoot production associated with value chain linkage to improve livelihoods, contributing to poverty reduction for people in Dinh Hoa; support livelihoods for Mong people in Ban Ten, Van Lang, Dong Hy hamlets; projects to link goat farming, tea production, and commercial chicken farming in localities of the province. Looking back at the halfway point of implementing the Vietnam Fatherland Front Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021-2025 period, it can be seen that Thai Nguyen has achieved many achievements, the material and spiritual life of people in the province has been improved, and the number of poor and near-poor households has decreased rapidly. In 2022, the poverty reduction rate was 1.79%, exceeding the assigned plan, higher than the national average reduction rate of 1.2%. In 2023, the province set a target of reducing 4,711 poor and near-poor households. The total capital for the 2021-2023 period allocated to this program by Thai Nguyen province is over 117.3 billion VND. It is estimated that by December 31, the province will disburse over 84% of the capital implemented in 2023. Determining the long-term goal of sustainable and multidimensional poverty reduction in the area, Thai Nguyen continues to promote communication work on sustainable poverty reduction.
