My Lung Commune, Yen Lap District has the potential to develop eco-tourism and community tourism associated with the customs and practices of ethnic minorities. Therefore, in recent times, the local government has paid special attention to developing OCOP products of the people to develop tourism.
My Lung is known as a commune with a beautiful landscape, surrounded by 3 mountain ranges (Chinh mountain, Na mountain, Dong mountain) creating a valley with Ngoi Lao flowing through the middle of the commune with rich aquatic resources and creating many beautiful streams and waterfalls such as Fan waterfall, 3-storey waterfall, 100-storey waterfall, Dung waterfall... The rich water source is the origin of the My Lung Ga Gay specialty sticky rice variety - an OCOP product of the province and gives birth to many rustic dishes, becoming local specialties such as: Stream fish, ant egg cake, Ga Gay sticky rice wine, Thao Xuan leaf yeast wine...
Mr. Pham Thanh Tuyen's family in zone 9 grows cassava with high yield and quality.
Up to now, the whole commune has had 5 products achieving 4-star and 3-star OCOP. Currently, Truong Thinh cassava starch product has submitted a profile to participate in the OCOP product evaluation and classification program at the end of this year to further develop local products.
Comrade Dinh Tien Duat - Chairman of My Lung Commune People's Committee said: "Focusing on developing OCOP products associated with tourism is considered a new direction in economic development in My Lung. Besides, with the consensus of the people, developing community tourism is expected to help local people develop the economy, solve employment and promise that My Lung will become a stopover for tourists every time they return to the locality".
Muong sour meat of Khuc Van Dat business household, the product has met 3-star OCOP standards
Being a commune with fresh and cool natural conditions. It seems that nature has favored the people here so that farmers can grow and produce cassava tubers of extremely high quality and more special than other regions. This is also one of the few places in the country that has an area of cassava cultivation, a type of cassava grown by making large, high mounds, cassava vines climbing on steel wire frames.
For those reasons, along with the desire to develop and bring local specialties to consumers across the country. Therefore, in 2020, My Lung Green Agricultural Cooperative was established on the basis of the predecessor of Truong Thinh Pure Tapioca Starch Processing Facility with 7 members. Currently, the main raw material area of the Cooperative is cared for by 25 households that cooperate in raw material production, according to the VietGAP process (with an area of over 5 hectares), in an organic direction, harvested and processed according to a closed process to ensure food hygiene and safety. The Cooperative employs 100% local workers, regularly creating jobs for workers with stable income.
Mr. Pham Thanh Tuyen, in zone 9, said: His family is currently growing 2.5 hectares of cassava in an 8-month cycle, preparing for harvest. Under each mound of cassava, he also plants biomass corn. The average income from cassava and corn is nearly 100 million VND/year, contributing to increasing income and improving life.
Or for the Muong sour meat product of the business household Khuc Van Dat, the product has met the 3-star OCOP standard. Previously, this dish was only processed by people to serve their families. Some households made sour meat to retail to people in the commune. Seeing the effectiveness of making sour meat, the commune government also oriented people to process it into a commodity product to sell to the market, associated with the development of community tourism. Thereby, it has contributed to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural identity of the Muong people, while creating jobs and income for people...
In addition to existing resources, My Lung commune also desires and is determined to create all favorable conditions to attract investment resources for tourism development associated with OCOP products. These are necessary conditions to promote tourism development in the commune, contributing to creating livelihoods for people, especially in the areas where Muong and Dao ethnic groups live.
The development of OCOP products associated with tourism development has initially brought positive results to the locality. It has gradually contributed to increasing economic value, awakening the potential of regional products, culinary and cultural values, and expanding the consumption market, connection, and trade for OCOP products of My Lung commune in particular and Yen Lap district in general.
