For many years, Ms. Trang Thi Thuy's family in Cay Oi Hamlet, Tap Ngai Commune did not have the means to build a house. In 2024, the local government considered supporting her with 50 million VND to build a house.
Ms. Thuy confided: My family's situation is very difficult. My husband works as a motorbike taxi driver in Ho Chi Minh City and his income is just enough to cover expenses and send a little extra to support his wife and children. My eldest daughter works as a housekeeper in Tra Vinh city, and my youngest son is still in school.
Previously, there was no house, no land, the whole family lived with my mother and brother. Now that my mother has passed away, I intend to build my own house on the land my parents gave me, but I do not have the means. Thanks to the local government's support of 50 million VND, I borrowed another 50 million VND from the Social Policy Bank of Tieu Can district to build a complete house. My family will try to work hard to soon pay off the debt for building the house and take care of my family's life better."

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Viet, Vice Chairman of Tap Ngai Commune People's Committee, said: Thoroughly implementing the resolution of the Party Committee and People's Council, in 2024, the Commune People's Committee has synchronously deployed solutions, directed the sectors and hamlets to focus on implementing the goals and tasks right from the beginning of the year. In particular, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune has shown its role as a "bridge" between the Party, the government and the people. Through many diverse and rich forms of propaganda and mobilization to support the Fund for the Poor, the Gratitude Fund; building great solidarity houses and the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" have been enthusiastically responded to by the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, humanitarian and charitable organizations and people from all walks of life inside and outside the locality.
Comrade Le Thi Nhan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tap Ngai Commune, said: All activities and mobilized resources are aimed at supporting and caring for the poor and disadvantaged people in the commune, especially supporting the construction and repair of houses. To effectively implement housing support work, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, in coordination with the People's Committee and member organizations, reviews and grasps the living conditions and housing needs of the subjects for consideration and support. In 2024, the whole commune has 23 poor households, accounting for 0.64% of the total number of households, 84 near-poor households, accounting for 2.33% of the total number of households; Tap Ngai commune has deployed the construction of 70 charity houses and solidarity houses for poor and disadvantaged households in the commune with a total implementation cost of over 3.8 billion VND. Of which, 24 solidarity houses are funded by the Ministry of Public Security and the province, 42 houses are funded by the provincial Social Security Fund, 02 charity houses are funded by the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas, and 02 houses are strongly supported by donors outside the province.
Each house is built to ensure the usable area and ensure the "3 hard" according to regulations. Each solid and spacious house has become a solid foundation, helping poor households and households with housing difficulties to have more motivation to strive, work and develop the economy with peace of mind. The family of Ms. Thach Thi Thanh Hang and her husband, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nhi, Giong Tranh hamlet, Tap Ngai commune, shared: I did not dare to think about building a house, because the family has 5 members but no land, daily life depends on working for hire and having to take care of the children's education, life is very difficult. When the locality considered supporting capital to build a house, my husband and I were very happy, my parents, brothers and sisters in the family pooled capital to lend an additional 50 million VND to renovate the house to make it more spacious. Now that we have a house, my husband and I can work for hire without fear of the house collapsing every time it rains or is windy.
It can be said that each house of great solidarity and charity built has contributed to spreading the beautiful tradition of “remembering the source of water when drinking” and “mutual love” of our nation. At the same time, it has contributed to effectively implementing the movement “The whole country joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind” and the campaign “The whole people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas”.
Comrade Nguyen Thanh Viet added that in the coming time, the local government, sectors and organizations in Tap Ngai commune will continue to mobilize resources to carry out tasks to care for the poor, near-poor, families with meritorious services, and households in difficult circumstances, helping them have more confidence and motivation to rise up and stabilize their lives. Contribute to the locality in implementing the criteria for building advanced and exemplary new rural areas.
