Kinhtedothi – In recent years, community tourism models have created livelihoods for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas in Hoa Binh, contributing to economic development and gradually becoming rich.
In recent years, with the attention of the Central Government and the province's policies and the support of a number of non-governmental organizations, many ethnic minority and mountainous villages in the province have actively developed community tourism.
Taking advantage of the local landscape of Hoa Binh hydroelectric reservoir, majestic mountains, and pristine primeval forests, Hoa Binh province has developed community tourism models. These models not only create sustainable livelihoods for ethnic minorities and mountain people but also contribute to promoting the image of the land, people, and unique culture of Muong to domestic and foreign tourists. Thanks to that, the locality not only develops the economy but also gradually becomes rich.
Mr. Bui Xuan Truong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hoa Binh, said that most tourists coming to Hoa Binh choose to experience community tourism. This is a type of tourism that is easy for tourists to approach because of its closeness and rusticity. Tourists can visit and experience the unique cultural architecture and daily life of the local people.
Lac Son district has a population of over 157,000 people, of which the Muong ethnic group accounts for 92%. This is an ancient land with a rich historical and cultural tradition, one of the places that left traces of prehistoric culture, the famous Hoa Binh culture.
This land is also blessed by nature with many majestic landscapes, waterfalls, caves, lakes, mineral springs... ideal for developing various types of tourism, including community tourism, such as the community tourism spots of Mu Khuong hamlet, Sat hamlet (Tu Do highland commune). These are hamlets of the Muong ethnic group that still retain intact their unique house architecture, customs and practices.
In the mountainous district of Mai Chau, community tourism was formed earlier than in other localities in the province, starting with the community tourism model in Lac village, Chieng Chau commune.
Currently, in Ke hamlet, Hien Luong commune, Da Bac district, some households have opened community tourism services to welcome visitors. Since tourism has developed, the work of protecting and developing forests in Hien Luong commune has gradually become more organized. The area of forest protection and regeneration has increased rapidly, contributing positively to tourism development and environmental protection.
Mr. Bui Xuan Truong said that community tourism has gradually changed thinking and improved sustainable livelihoods for ethnic minority households. In addition to the destinations concentrated in Mai Chau tourist area and mountainous communes of Lac Son, Tan Lac, Cao Phong districts, the community tourism model has been replicated in communes in Hoa Binh Lake tourist area, such as: Ngoi village, Suoi Hoa commune (Tan Lac); Sung village, Cao Son commune (Da Bac); Tien village, Thung Nai commune (Cao Phong) ...
Currently, the province's community tourism is operating effectively and developing relatively quickly with over 20 community tourism hamlets and villages of the Muong, Thai, Dao, and Mong ethnic groups, and nearly 200 homestays participating in accommodation business and other tourism services.
Each community tourism site in Hoa Binh province is based on rich resources, combining agriculture and tourism, contributing to increasing income, improving livelihoods, and enhancing the material and spiritual life of the people.
