These are some of the results achieved in implementing the Elderly Health Care Project that were just announced by the Department of Population and Family Planning of Ca Mau province at the mid-term review conference of projects under the population target program for the period 2021-2025 on the morning of August 4.

The total number of elderly people in the province is currently 152,800. The project on elderly health care phase 1 (2021-6/2023) has been implemented in 9 districts, cities and 101 communes, wards and towns. As a result, the province currently has 4 hospitals with geriatric departments, 11 examination tables for the elderly; 136,486 elderly people have health insurance, accounting for 89.32%; 119,919 elderly people are disseminated knowledge about home health care, accounting for 78.47%; 5,215 elderly people with disabilities are examined and rehabilitated in the community, accounting for 3.6%; 3,112 elderly people living alone with serious illnesses are examined at home by medical staff or taken to medical facilities for examination and treatment, accounting for 2.1%/elderly; 101 communes and wards established elderly health care clubs and volunteer groups, with 505 volunteers. 1,489 elderly people were congratulated and celebrated their longevity, including 105 elderly people >= 100 years old.

On this occasion, the Department of Health awarded certificates of merit to 8 collectives and 44 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the Mid-term Health Care Project for the Elderly, period 2021-2025. |
The results of the Project have contributed to raising awareness of population aging, responsibilities and obligations of individuals, families and communities in taking care of the health of the elderly; creating habits of taking care of the health of the elderly for families, individuals and the community, reducing the burden on society and families of the elderly in treating diseases and disabilities of the elderly; increasing access to the health care service system and meeting the health care needs of the elderly in the locality.
The conference also heard reports on the implementation results of projects and plans such as Screening, diagnosis, and treatment of some prenatal and neonatal diseases and disabilities; Controlling gender imbalance at birth; Strengthening counseling and providing population and family planning services for adolescents/adolescents; Socializing the provision of contraceptives and family planning and reproductive health services; Plan to implement the Program to strengthen and develop the specialized population information system; Plan to implement the program to strengthen, develop and improve the quality of family planning services; Model of counseling and pre-marital health examination./.
