Monitoring data shows that at 9:00 a.m. this morning (July 16), the upstream water level of Hoa Binh Lake was at 108.67m, the inflow to the lake was 4,456m3/s, the discharge was 3,926m3/s; the upstream water level of Tuyen Quang Lake was at 109.46m, the inflow to the lake was 673m3/s, the discharge was 673m3/s.
Implementing the inter-reservoir operation process on the Red River basin in Decision No. 740/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development ordered Hoa Binh Hydropower Company to open another bottom spillway gate of Hoa Binh reservoir at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon (July 16); Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company to open another bottom spillway gate of Tuyen Quang hydropower reservoir at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon (July 16).
Opening the bottom spillway gates is to gradually bring the upstream water level of the reservoirs back to the highest water level before the flood as prescribed in Decision No. 740/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister; ensuring the safety of the reservoir, dam and downstream areas.
In the dispatch, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also requested the two hydropower enterprises Hoa Binh and Tuyen Quang to closely monitor the developments of floods, construction safety, flow to the reservoir, water levels upstream and downstream of the reservoir to promptly report to ministries and branches for response instructions.
