We have seen many young athletes or bodybuilders who have complications such as liver damage, cardiovascular problems, mental disorders such as aggression, mood swings, and endocrine disorders such as decreased natural hormone production.

Don't take too much creatine, protein

Kidney damage due to excessive use of creatine and protein. There are cases of bodybuilding, high-intensity, long-term gym training, combined with excessive use of creatine and protein, leading to rhabdomyolysis, microcytosis, protein, increased creatinine, blood urea, increased potassium... leading to acute kidney failure requiring dialysis. Not long ago, we received a number of these cases for treatment at E Hospital.

Whey protein is derived from the liquid part of milk that separates during the cheese-making process. It is a mixture of proteins and other ingredients. Side effects that may occur when using whey protein include digestive problems (bloating, stomach cramps or diarrhea), especially in people with lactose intolerance, allergies to people with milk allergies.

Excessive use of whey protein can lead to kidney overload, especially in people with a history of kidney disease. In addition, it will increase acne, nutritional imbalance due to excessive use, and reduce essential nutrients from natural animals and plants.

Body weakness, infertility due to muscle gain drugs

For long-term use of anabolic steroids or hormones can cause liver damage, increased risk of cardiovascular disease, hormonal imbalance.

It can even reduce natural testosterone production, infertility, impotence, mood swings, mental state changes towards increased aggression. Long-term use can cause the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Specifically, when using drugs and muscle-building supplements for a long time, the body's physiological and biochemical systems become dependent on the use of drugs and supplements, leading to a feedback mechanism - inhibiting the assimilation, metabolism, tolerance, and absorption of protein, sugar, fat, minerals, and trace elements from natural sources.

The final consequence is that when stopping the use of drugs and supplements suddenly and improperly, along with stopping muscle-building exercises, it will lead to serious disorders in the assimilation, metabolism, tolerance, and absorption of these substances, causing "muscle loss", muscle atrophy, heart muscle, impaired function of the motor system, circulation, endocrine, reproductive, salt and water metabolism... Finally, the body is weakened and disabled.

How to build muscle safely

You need to see a sports doctor or a specialist to assess your condition, related diseases, and get thorough treatment; assess your physical capacity and fitness. In particular, during training, you should coordinate with a coach and a sports doctor to assess your condition and get advice on choosing and prescribing muscle-building exercises, combining the use of nutritional supplements, and possibly using muscle-enhancing stimulants when necessary.

To increase muscle safely, the practitioner must follow the training program, nutrition, supplements and support drugs according to the regimen of the sports doctor, specialist (if any), and the assigned trainer. It is necessary to have regular check-ups, check the muscle-lifting program as well as side effects to make appropriate adjustments and treat side effects promptly.
