On the afternoon of March 11, HAGL center back Pham Ly Duc arrived at The Mira Hotel in Thu Dau Mot City, marking a milestone for the first time joining the Vietnamese national team, when his name was on the list of 26 names called by coach Kim Sang-sik.

Wearing the HAGL Club shirt since the beginning of this season, the young player born in 2003 had a great season, starting in all 16 matches in the V-League 2024 - 2025 and winning against Binh Phuoc Club in the National Cup.

Possessing an impressive physique (1.82 m tall), Ly Duc quickly shined thanks to his compatibility with the strong playing style of the duo Vu Tien Thanh - Le Quang Trai. In addition to solid defense, the former Nutifood academy player also scored 2 goals for HAGL in the V-League.

Ly Duc's impressive performance has helped him catch the eye of coach Kim Sang-sik, and he was included in this training session when his senior Pham Xuan Manh was absent due to injury.

Ly Duc scored the opening goal for HAGL in the match against Binh Duong Club in V-League.

Pham Ly Duc shared very honestly: "I feel very happy to be on the list of players called up this time. I am also very excited to join the training camp and will try to practice and compete well to have a chance to play. Everyone is worried when joining the Vietnam national team for the first time. Me too!

But with the mindset of a young player, I will try to learn more from my seniors and improve what I am lacking. I hope the coach will give me the opportunity to play and will devote myself to the Vietnam team."

In this training session, Coach Kim Sang-sik called up a total of 6 central defenders including Thanh Chung, Tien Dung, Duy Manh, Thanh Binh, Viet Anh and Ly Duc. Among these central defenders, Ly Duc is only shorter than Viet Anh in height.

The Vietnamese team will have two matches, including a friendly match with Cambodia on March 19 and the official opening match of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers with Laos. Therefore, Ly Duc will have the opportunity to play to prove his ability in front of the Korean coach.
