Highlights of the match between The Cong-Viettel Club and Hanoi FC at Hang Day Stadium

The highlight of the round is the "Capital derby" between The Cong-Viettel Club and Hanoi FC at Hang Day Stadium taking place at 7:15 p.m. on December 17.

Considered to be strong candidates for the 2023/24 V-League championship, however, both The Cong-Viettel and Hanoi FC are having a bad start to the new season with only 8 and 6 points respectively after the first 5 rounds and are far behind the top team, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh, on the rankings.

Therefore, the direct confrontation between the two representative clubs of the Capital is an opportunity to change the situation on the rankings, helping the winning team create a score gap with the opponent.

The important Hanoi derby between The Cong-Viettel and Hanoi FC is one of two matches in round 6 of the 2023/24 V-League approved by FIFA to apply VAR video assistant referee technology, along with the home team Dong A Thanh Hoa's reception of Ho Chi Minh City Club at 6:00 p.m. on December 16.

The Thanh team is unbeaten in the first 5 rounds of the new season (3 wins, 2 draws) and is temporarily ranked 2nd on the rankings with 11 points, only 2 points behind the top team, Nam Dinh Steel.

After a dramatic draw with defending champion Cong An Ha Noi in the previous round, the ability to compete for the championship title of the top team, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh, will continue to be tested when the team from Thanh Nam visits the field of Becamex Binh Duong Club - the team ranked 3rd on the rankings and owns a solid defense in V-League 2023/24 with only 2 goals conceded.

The match will take place at 6:00 p.m. on December 15 at Binh Duong Stadium.

The two "former champions" of V-League are currently at the bottom of the table, Song Lam Nghe An (3 points, ranked 11th/14) and LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai (2 points, ranked last) will have a direct confrontation in this round.

Neither club has enjoyed the joy of victory in the new season, so 3 points will be the goal that both clubs aim for in the match at Vinh Stadium taking place at 5:00 p.m. on December 17.

In the remaining two matches, MerryLand Quy Nhon Binh Dinh will travel to Hong Linh Ha Tinh's home field at 5:00 p.m. on December 16; while Hai Phong FC will return from the AFC Cup to host Khanh Hoa at Lach Tray Stadium in the latest match of the round at 6:00 p.m. on December 18.
