Students can register for 3 wishes and change admission area.
According to regulations of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, in the 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year, each student can register their wishes (NV) to apply to a maximum of 3 public high schools, ranked in order of NV 1, 2 and 3. Of which, NV1, NV2 must be in the prescribed admission area; NV 3 can be in any admission area.
In order to facilitate students, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also allows changing enrollment areas for students living in areas bordering enrollment areas or whose actual residence is different from their permanent residence.

However, NV 1 and NV 2 must register for admission to 2 public high schools in the changed enrollment area and NV 3 to a school in any area.
In these cases, students must submit an application to change the enrollment area, stating the reason and have it confirmed by the head of the unit where the enrollment application was received.
In addition, students who want to apply to specialized schools can register for 2 NV in the same specialized school or in 2/4 specialized schools in Hanoi.
In case of applying to a specialized school, students must clearly state on the application form their first and second wishes. In case there is only one wish to enter a specialized class, the application form must state the first wish.
Admission principles for grade 10 in Hanoi
2025 is the year of the first batch of students under the new general education program to take the graduation exam. It is expected that the whole city will have about 127,000 students taking the secondary school graduation exam, of which 79,000 will be admitted to public grade 10, and 48,000 will study at private high schools, vocational education centers, and continuing education centers.
Students applying for 10th grade in non-specialized high schools in Hanoi will take three exams: math, literature, and foreign language. Candidates can choose one of five foreign languages: English, French, German, Japanese, and Korean.
The formula for calculating the admission score (ADS) for grade 10 in Hanoi this year is as follows:
DXT = Math score + Literature score + Foreign language score + priority score (if any) + incentive score (if any).
Students who pass NV 1 will not be considered for NV 2 and 3; If they fail NV 1, they will be considered for NV 2 and 3 if their scores are at least 1 and 2 points higher than the NV 1 benchmark.
NVs are considered in parallel until all qualified students are gone, not NV 1. Only when there is a shortage of quotas will NV 2 and 3 be considered.
