To welcome the 2024 enrollment season, many universities plan to open new majors to meet social needs and the rapid changes in professions in the current context.

Recently, the National Economics University announced that it plans to open 6 new majors for 2024. These 6 new majors include: Data Science (in the field of Mathematics and Statistics), Software Engineering, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Information Security (in the field of Computers and Information Technology), Labor Relations (in the field of Business and Management).

Of which, the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence majors are expected to recruit 100 students each, the remaining majors will recruit 50 students each.

Among these majors of the National Economics University, except for the Labor Relations major that trains bachelors, the remaining 5 majors will have both bachelors and engineers.

This is considered one of the remarkable new points because before now, normally, engineering degrees were only for technical majors, focusing on in-depth practice and being the strength of technical schools such as University of Science and Technology, University of Transport, Hanoi University of Construction... Meanwhile, the group of schools specializing in Business and Management such as National Economics University mainly trained bachelor's programs.

The National Economics University said that the establishment of new majors plays an important role in diversifying and expanding the school's training majors, in order to meet the needs of society as well as contribute to enhancing the school's position in the context of international integration.

The work of building new majors is also determined by this school in its general development direction and plan, in accordance with the human resource requirements for the country's socio-economic development, with the needs of society and learners.

In 2024, Foreign Trade University also plans to enroll students in the Computer Science major, the Computer Science and Data in Economics and Business program, and start enrolling students in the dual degree program with the University of Queensland (Australia) in International Business, the International Business program and Business Analytics at the Hanoi Headquarters.

In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology will have 7 new majors including: Digital Economics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Aesthetic Technology, and Financial Technology.

In 2024, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will begin enrolling students in the Semiconductor Technology major. According to the school, this is a very potential major and is being invested in by the Government to develop human resources.

The school representative also said that the training program will aim to equip learners with knowledge and professional skills related to the design, manufacturing, packaging and testing of integrated semiconductor microcircuits, in order to provide highly specialized human resources, anticipating the development trends of this potential industry.

The University of Technology - Vietnam National University, Hanoi also plans to enroll students in the master's program in semiconductor design this year.

Hanoi University of Industry also increased its quota by 150 compared to 2023 because in 2024 it will open 2 new majors/training programs: Information Security and Chinese Language (2+2 linkage model).

In 2024, Phenikaa University also plans to open 8 more majors/training programs compared to 2023, including: Electronics - Telecommunications Engineering (semiconductor circuit design), Artificial Intelligence, Information Security (some specialized subjects are taught in English), Marketing, Financial Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, Hospital Management, Traditional Medicine.
