Hanoi: Awarding prizes for the city-level English Olympic to 203 students

Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, affirmed that the English Olympic exam is one of the activities of the education sector to carry out the task of gradually making English the second language in schools.

In recent years, schools have made great strides in the movement of teaching and learning English at all levels. Many movements and innovative activities in teaching and learning English have been implemented such as: Upgrading teacher standards; assessing English proficiency online; narrowing the gap in the quality of teaching and learning foreign languages; applying artificial intelligence in teaching and learning English, etc.

"Increasing the implementation of solutions to improve the quality of English teaching not only helps students improve their scores but also helps them become more confident in communication and achieve high results in many regional and international exams," said Mr. Cuong.

Leaders of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and representatives of Language Link Vietnam awarded Special Prizes to the winning students.

This year's Hanoi City Primary School English Olympiad has 1,306 primary school candidates from 829 schools participating.

After two rounds of competition, 203 excellent candidates won prizes, including 1 candidate winning the Special Prize, 10 candidates winning the First Prize, 60 candidates winning the Second Prize, 65 candidates winning the Third Prize and 67 candidates receiving the Encouragement Prize.

At the closing and award ceremony, the contestants who won Special, First, Second, Third and Encouragement prizes will be honored and receive prizes including cash, certificates, gifts and valuable scholarships.

English Olympic is considered a competition designed according to international testing standards to comprehensively assess the 4 English skills of Listening - Speaking - Reading - Writing.

First held in the 2002-2003 school year, through 18 competitions, the English Olympiad has become a quality playground for students passionate about foreign languages, meeting the expectations of many parents, schools and students in the capital.
