Samsung may equip 3 types of chips on the Galaxy S25 series

Samsung is said to be adding a version running MediaTek's Dimensity chip for the first time on the Galaxy S25 series, in addition to the two versions using Snapdragon and Exynos chips.

According to a source cited by The Financial News, Samsung is considering using all three chip versions for the Galaxy S25 series for the first time. Specifically, the report said Samsung is thinking of not only using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip and Exynos 2500 in parallel, but also developing a variant using the MediaTek Dimensity chip.

The reason for Samsung's decision is said to be due to the high price of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip. This could affect the product price as well as the company's profits. Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be 25-30% more expensive than the current Gen 3 chip.

In addition, Samsung is also said to have not been able to optimize the Exynos 2500 chip to achieve the highest possible performance, including processing speed as well as battery saving ability. Therefore, the company needs to find a backup solution to ensure the production process.

However, developing software updates for three different hardware configurations could become a real burden for Samsung.

Some previously leaked information said that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will have a main camera with a resolution of 200MP, using the ISOCELL HP2 sensor developed by the company. This camera is better optimized to improve the ability to take photos in low light conditions.

In addition, Samsung also upgraded the ultra-wide-angle camera on the Galaxy S25 Ultra to 50MP, instead of 12MP on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The telephoto camera that supports 3x optical zoom is also said to be upgraded to 50MP resolution.
