According to Ha Giang Provincial Police, at around 11:00 a.m. today (October 2), the landslide at Km51+200 of National Highway 2 through Viet Vinh Commune, Bac Quang District, was cleared.

Speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Ms. Ha Thi Huong, Deputy Head of Road Management Department No. 6, Road Joint Stock Company 232, said that the landslide caused more than 10,000m3 of rock and soil to cover the surface of National Highway 2 at Km51+200.

According to Ms. Huong, over the past 3 days, the unit has mobilized manpower and equipment to level a large amount of dirt and rocks. By around 11am this morning, vehicles were able to move in one lane. Currently, the unit is focusing on leveling both sides of the road to soon open both lanes.

Previously, on the morning of September 29, in the above area, a landslide occurred from the positive slope onto the road, spilling over to the opposite area, causing serious damage to people's lives and property.

According to the leader of Viet Vinh commune, up to now, the authorities have identified 5 victims who died in the landslide, including: MTT (10 years old), Mrs. TTH (53 years old), Mr. T.D.D. (30 years old), Mr. PAT (32 years old) and Mr. NVT.
