Quang Binh received nearly 900 units of blood on the opening day of the Red Journey program in 2024.

After more than a decade of organization, Red Journey has become the largest voluntary blood donation campaign in Vietnam. The program is a broad communication activity to call on the whole society to promote the spirit of mutual love and participate in donating blood to save lives.

Responding to the program, Quang Binh province has so far organized it 10 times and achieved many positive results. Since the beginning of 2024, the whole province has received 5,600 units of blood, reaching more than 50% of the year's target.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Standing Deputy Secretary of Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee Tran Hai Chau acknowledged and welcomed the Red Journey program and affirmed that the program is a testament to the nation's fine tradition of mutual love and support.

In order for the voluntary blood donation campaign in the province to be sustainable and to promptly serve the emergency and treatment work for patients, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee requested all levels, sectors and localities to strengthen propaganda, create consensus and respond to the blood donation campaign to save lives, especially in difficult areas; create the most favorable conditions for volunteers and people to participate in blood donation; promptly reward and honor typical units and individuals in implementing the campaign and voluntary blood donation.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation of Quang Binh province organized the Blood Donation Festival "Quang Binh - Love in a Drop of Blood" at the Culture, Sports and Communication Center of Bo Trach district and the Department of Biochemistry - Hematology - Blood Transfusion, Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital Dong Hoi.

Although the weather is hot again today, volunteers from all over Quang Binh province have come to the above locations early in the morning to donate blood to save lives. As a result, the Organizing Committee has collected 867 units of blood, including 528 units of blood in Bo Trach district; 329 units of blood at the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi, contributing to blood support for patients being treated at hospitals in the province.
