The Prime Minister also spent time receiving Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Gerd Muller at noon on September 20 local time (morning on September 21 Vietnam time).
The head of the Government asked UNIDO to support Vietnam in perfecting and implementing industrial policies, developing low-emission industries that are resilient to climate change, and increasing added value and competitiveness.
For his part, Mr. Gerd Muller said that Vietnam is the most successful development model and an important partner of UNIDO. Therefore, this organization is committed to focusing on supporting Vietnam in energy saving and decarbonizing industry.
Mr. Gerd Muller also proposed that the two sides study the possibility of tripartite cooperation between Vietnam, UNIDO and a developing country so that Vietnam can share successful experiences and UNIDO will support technology transfer.
During his working trip to New York (USA), on September 20, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with leaders of four European countries and Thailand, the President of the 78th United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Organization UNIDO.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to and supports the central role of the United Nations in the global governance system. Vietnam pledged to actively contribute to the major priorities of the 78th General Assembly.

The President of the General Assembly agreed to cooperate with Vietnam to promote compliance with the United Nations Charter, international law and multilateralism.

The Head of Government also mentioned a number of measures to promote the strategic partnership between the two countries, such as bringing trade turnover to 25 billion USD in a balanced direction.
Thai Prime Minister Sretta Thavisin agreed with the opinions and proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
The Thai leader expressed his desire to further strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in trade, investment, tourism, infrastructure and local connectivity. He also suggested that Vietnam consider opening more direct flights to Thailand.

The Prime Minister also had meetings with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar, Finnish President Sauli Ninisto and Polish President Andrzej Duda.
During two meetings with the leaders of Slovenia and Finland, the Prime Minister raised two issues that Vietnam is interested in. That is, he asked the two countries to soon ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement and to speak out to promote the removal of the yellow card on IUU seafood from Vietnam.
