Promoting the role of party members in ethnic minority areas

Not only playing an exemplary role in building the great national unity bloc, the ethnic minority party members in Ngoc Hoi border district (Kon Tum) are always close to the people, grasping the legitimate thoughts and aspirations of the people to promptly reflect them to the local Party Committee and government for resolution. Thereby, contributing to socio-economic development, maintaining national defense and security and building the district to develop day by day.

With the propaganda and mobilization of party members, Ms. Y Ai (right), Ka Nhay village, Dak Nong commune has had additional income from renovating mixed gardens.

Ka Nhay hamlet, Dak Nong commune, Ngoc Hoi district has 141 households, 524 people, nearly 100% of whom are Gie Trieng ethnic group. To help people develop the economy and improve their lives, the Party cell assigned 21 party members in the cell to be in charge of households and groups of households. After being assigned, the party members stayed close to the households, grasped the thoughts and aspirations of each household and guided and supported them to focus on economic development.

Ms. Y Ai, Ka Nhay Hamlet, Dak Nong Commune, Ngoc Hoi District said: Before, I did not grow any trees in the backyard, just left the land empty. After being propagated and mobilized by party members, in 2021 I bought 30 jackfruit and durian trees to plant. After a period of care, I saw that the trees grew well, the garden was also cleaner and more beautiful. The jackfruit tree has been bearing fruit for more than a year now and this year the durian has started to bear fruit. I think that renovating this mixed garden is very correct, helping the family have more income.

Party members of Ka Nhay village Party cell, Dak Nong commune regularly propagate and mobilize villagers to take care of economic development and join hands to preserve national cultural identity.

Mr. A Minh - Party Cell Secretary and Village Chief of Ka Nhay Village, Dak Nong Commune, Ngoc Hoi District shared: Through assigning party members to be in charge of households and groups of households, party members have promoted their roles and responsibilities in propagating and mobilizing people to change their thinking, ways of doing things, and converting crop and livestock structures to increase income and escape poverty. In 2020, the village had 40 poor households, but now it has reduced to 6 poor households, a result of great contributions from party members.

Ngoc Hoi District Party Committee currently has more than 2,680 party members; of which, 1,184 party members are ethnic minorities, accounting for 44%; the district always maintains 68/68 villages and residential groups with party organizations and party members. Party members in ethnic minority areas all have steadfast political ideology, morality, clean and simple lifestyle; are exemplary, doing a good job of propaganda and mobilizing people to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; mobilizing people to eliminate bad customs and practices that are no longer suitable and build a civilized lifestyle.

Ms. Y Tin, Secretary of the Party Cell of Giang Lo II Village, Sa Loong Commune, Ngoc Hoi District, shared: The Party Cell always closely coordinates with departments, branches, organizations, and local authorities to closely follow the people to understand and know which bad customs and practices are suitable or not suitable, causing waste and expense, and then mobilize and propagate people to gradually abandon them. Currently, people in the village have gradually abandoned many bad customs and practices that are no longer suitable such as: worshiping and praying to gods when sick; the custom of finding a matchmaker when asking for a wife; the custom of firewood for engagement; abandoning the habit of funerals and long wedding ceremonies.

With the pioneering role of party members, ethnic minorities in Ngoc Hoi district have promoted the spirit of solidarity and joined hands to participate in building new rural areas.

With the enthusiasm and responsibility of the ethnic minority party members, they have contributed to the Party Committee and the government of Ngoc Hoi district to achieve important results. In 2024, the district's economy continued to grow, with a total production value of VND 10,796 billion; average income per capita reached VND 61 million/person/year; the district has met 8/9 criteria in the national criteria set for new rural districts.

Mr. Pham Hai Chau, Standing Deputy Secretary of Ngoc Hoi District Party Committee, said: The exemplary role of ethnic minority party members has been promoted, especially party members holding key positions in the Party Committee, government, front, mass organizations of communes, towns, villages, and residential groups in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and resolutions of Party committees at all levels. Many party members have emerged as shining examples in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology and morality, which have been discovered, commended, and widely recognized by local party committees. Thereby, contributing to promoting socio-economic development, ensuring national security and defense, and improving the material and spiritual life of people in ethnic minority areas.
