Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for people in the highlands

With the goal of completing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025, localities in the province are making efforts to mobilize the joint efforts of the whole community to support poor and near-poor households, people in difficult circumstances, especially ethnic minority households, poor and near-poor households in mountainous areas to settle down, giving them more motivation to improve their lives and escape poverty sustainably.

The house of Mrs. Dinh Thi Ton's family in zone 6, My Lung commune, Yen Lap district is gradually taking shape.

According to the review, Thanh Son district currently has 680 poor and near-poor households in need of support to build new or repair houses; 89 households of people with revolutionary contributions and 93 households under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas. With the active participation of the entire political system, the district has actively implemented the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses; promoted propaganda work, created social consensus for people and the community to support and join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses with the spirit of whoever has something to help, whoever has a lot helps a lot, whoever has a little helps a little. Newly built houses that meet the 3 hard criteria (hard foundation, hard frame-wall, hard roof) are being built to help the poor and those with housing difficulties to settle down.

Up to now, 142 eligible households have started and are completing construction and repair (including: 86 poor households, near-poor households, 24 households of people with revolutionary contributions, 32 households under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas). During the implementation process, together with local Party committees and authorities, youth union members have promoted their pioneering and volunteering roles, joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households. Thousands of working days of youth union members have contributed to helping poor and near-poor households live in solid houses. From the mobilization of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, many construction material stores in the area have supported or sold bricks, sand, gravel, paint, water tanks, etc. at original prices, supporting essential items to help poor and near-poor households stabilize their lives.

Thanh Son District Youth Union Secretary Phung Huyen Trang shared: Together with the authorities at all levels in the district, Thanh Son youth also contributed their efforts to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the district. During the Youth Month, 2,000 youth union members of the district supported working days to help people level the ground and transport materials to build houses, contributing to speeding up the progress of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the district.

In 2025, Yen Lap district has 488 households registered to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Determining that eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is an important political task, the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front, and mass organizations from the district to the grassroots level focus on leading, directing, and organizing synchronous, drastic, and effective implementation. With the spirit of solidarity, mutual assistance, and not leaving anyone behind, the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front, and member organizations, businesses, organizations, and individuals inside and outside the district continue to mobilize, contribute, and mobilize maximum support resources from the community to help the poor and disadvantaged people... have solid, solid houses, stable above and below, and stabilize their lives. By March 18, the whole district had 208 households starting construction and repair, including 24 houses of meritorious people; 184 houses of poor and near-poor households (139 new houses; 45 houses repaired).

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of My Lung Sa Quoc Huy commune said: By the end of the first quarter, the commune had started to build and remove 22 temporary and dilapidated houses, repaired 16 houses, and 3 houses are being prepared to start construction. To help households complete their houses soon, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and organizations mobilized people, union members, and association members to help with working days, mobilized additional funds and construction materials from benefactors to join hands to complete the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses according to the plan to help the poor settle down.

With the active participation of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, the joint efforts of units, businesses, organizations, individuals, people in mountainous districts, including ethnic minorities, will soon be able to settle down in houses filled with solidarity.
