Discovering the grave of a martyr with full identity helps identify comrades in the same unit

(Dan Tri) - On February 20, Collection Team 192, Hue City Military Command coordinated with functional units to collect martyrs' remains in Phong Thu ward, Phong Dien town, and bring them to their resting place.


Hue City Military Command said that the unit has received a report from the people about a martyr's grave that has not been gathered in Trach Thuong 2 residential group, Phong Thu ward, Phong Dien town.

Hue City Military Command directed Collection Team 192 to the area, coordinate with Phong Dien Town Military Command and witnesses to inspect, survey, collect information, and conclude information about this martyr's grave.

Through studying archived records and information provided by witnesses, Hue city authorities confirmed that the above grave belongs to martyr Bui Duc Vinh (born in 1963, from Xuan Hung commune, Xuan Thuy district, Ha Nam Ninh province, now group 2, Xuan Truong town, Xuan Truong district, Nam Dinh province).

Before his death, martyr Bui Duc Vinh was a soldier of Company 301, Regiment 681 (now Brigade 971, Department of Transportation, General Department of Logistics and Engineering). He died in 1983, while on an escort mission.

According to authorities, initially, martyr Bui Duc Vinh was buried at the Phong Thu Commune Martyrs Cemetery (now Phong Thu Ward) but had not yet been recorded for management at any level.

After the locality moved the Phong Thu Commune Martyrs Cemetery to Huong Dien Martyrs Cemetery, the grave of martyr Bui Duc Vinh was overlooked.

After that, this grave was moved by local people to be buried in Trach Thuong 2 residential group and taken care of until now.

When exhumed, the remains of martyr Vinh still contained 17 teeth, 3 pieces of 20cm long bone, 2 pieces of 7cm long bone and many bone fragments.

The remains of martyr Bui Duc Vinh were brought to Huong Dien Martyrs Cemetery (Phong Dien town, Hue city) for a memorial service and burial.
