Discovered more than 1,000 bottles of suspected fake perfume of famous brands in Bac Giang

On the afternoon of April 6, according to information from the Traffic Police Department - Bac Giang Provincial Police, the unit has just discovered and seized a truck carrying nearly 6,000 perfume, sunscreen, and laundry detergent products without documents proving their origin.

Previously, at 12:30 on April 3, at km 118+250 of Hanoi - Bac Giang highway, in Dong Sau village (Dong Son commune, Bac Giang city, Bac Giang province), a working group of the Traffic Police Department stopped and checked a truck with license plate 98D-011.19.

Upon inspection, the force discovered that the vehicle was transporting 5,832 products, including 852 boxes of laundry detergent, 3,820 bottles of sunscreen, and 1,160 bottles of perfume of various brands. The estimated value of the goods was over 1 billion VND.

The driver and owner of the vehicle, Mr. Nguyen Van L. (in Dong Son commune, Bac Giang city, Bac Giang province) could not present documents proving the origin. All of the above goods showed signs of smuggling and counterfeiting famous brands.

The Traffic Police Department has handed over all goods, vehicles and related documents to the Provincial Market Management Department for further verification and handling according to regulations.

In the coming time, the Traffic Police Department - Bac Giang Provincial Police will continue to strengthen patrol and control activities to detect and arrest cases of transporting smuggled goods and goods of unknown origin, contributing to protecting the rights of consumers.

Acts of counterfeiting trademarks can be administratively handled with a fine of up to 50 million VND or more seriously, criminal prosecution for the Crime of manufacturing and trading counterfeit goods with a maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison or the Crime of infringing on industrial property rights with a maximum penalty of 3 years in prison.
