According to the leader of Vu Quang National Park, this is the first time a camera trap has captured the image of an albino mutant South Pacific chevrotain in Vu Quang National Park.
This individual has a body length of about 40 - 50cm, average weight of about 1.3 to 2.3kg. The albino mutant South Sea mouse-deer has a difference compared to other South Sea mouse-deer individuals in that its entire body has smooth white fur, very beautiful.
The recording of an albino mutant South Sea chevrotain further demonstrates the biodiversity in Vu Quang National Park, Ha Tinh province.
The Indonesian chevrotain, whose scientific name is Tragulus javanicus, is the smallest even-toed ungulate in the chevrotain family, living in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. The Indonesian chevrotain's appearance is somewhat similar to that of a muntjac or deer, but it has no tear glands. The Indonesian chevrotain's face is quite similar to that of a mouse, and its four legs are as skinny as sticks...
The South Pacific chevrotain is listed in the Vietnam Red Book, in the list of endangered, precious, and rare forest animals in group IIB that need to be protected and preserved.
