(NLDO)- After conducting an inspection, the school determined that the larvae came from green apples. The incident occurred at an international school in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to students, some students found larvae in their lunch at school on February 12. Specifically, at noon on February 12, a student at WellSpring Saigon School found larvae in his pan-fried salmon dish. This student immediately informed his friends and school representatives.

On February 13, a representative of WellSpring Saigon School confirmed that this incident occurred at noon on February 12, during the school's lunch hour. This person said that at the time, a 7/6 grade student discovered larvae in his lunch tray, specifically in the compartment containing the pan-fried salmon dish, the tray has many different compartments.

According to this person, immediately after receiving the information, the school's kitchen department reviewed the entire processing procedure. The menu for the students that day included vegetable soup with minced meat, spaghetti with minced beef sauce, salmon sauteed with rosemary, white rice, mashed potatoes, egg salad, red plums (for primary school students), and Phan Rang green apples (for secondary school students).

Upon inspection, the school determined that the larvae came from green apples, as the apple storage compartment was located next to the pan-fried salmon storage compartment. The school explained that apples are fresh fruits and are at risk of naturally occurring larvae even after they have been processed. When the remaining apples in the distribution area were inspected, the kitchen staff also discovered that some apples had larvae.

According to this representative, to limit similar risks that may occur in the future, the school will temporarily stop using this type of fruit that is at risk. At the same time, the school will use peeled fruits for students to use. It is known that the dishes in the students' lunch are all prepared and cooked by the school staff.
