The contest aims to find stage scripts with high artistic quality, new language, rich in education and humanity to be adapted into musicals for children in Vietnam.
Through the contest, the Organizing Committee hopes to mobilize the creative force of professional and non-professional authors in Vietnam to create and select many quality scripts, as a premise towards staging special musicals for children, improving spiritual life and meeting the public's need for art enjoyment, contributing to overcoming the shortage of theatrical works serving teenagers and children in recent times.
The representative of the Youth Theatre said that the “Scriptwriting Competition for Children in Vietnam” was organized on the basis of continuing the success of the recent exchange and co-creation projects between the artists of the Youth Theatre and the SangsangMaru Theatre, introducing to the Vietnamese public a number of outstanding musicals staged according to contemporary creative trends in the world and receiving the attention and response of a large number of young audiences.
This is also a proactive step to introduce to the audience a musical form that is still quite new in Vietnam, becoming a positive factor in the journey to build a foundation for the development of this art form, contributing to bringing the appearance of children's artistic activities closer to contemporary performance trends in the world.
The Organizing Committee hopes that through this competition, works that can tell stories of Vietnam that are powerful enough to move and reach the world will be found, aiming to conquer international audiences and contribute to promoting the image of the country, people and culture of Vietnam through the performing arts.
According to the rules, Vietnamese citizens over 19 years old living, studying and working in Vietnam and around the world, professional and non-professional writers can participate in the contest. The Organizing Committee especially encourages young writers who are passionate about the cause of caring for and educating children and the development of the performing arts.
The entries focus on exploiting contents and themes related to the country, people and culture of Vietnam, expressing the national spirit as well as the spirit of integration with the world; the concern and responsibility of the social community and family in the care and education of children; reflecting, praising, encouraging and honoring the good thoughts and actions of children in modern life; praising typical examples of children in the cause of building the country; mentioning and criticizing bad habits, vices, and deviant manifestations that a part of children encounter in studying and behaving with relatives, friends, teachers, etc.
