Specifically, Judge Tanya Chutkan on Monday (August 28) set a March 4 trial date for Mr. Trump in the federal case in Washington. This is one of four criminal charges that Mr. Trump faces, all of which he has pleaded not guilty to (thus requiring trial).

It will be the day before “Super Tuesday,” a potentially decisive day in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, when states from Maine to California will make their final choices. Polls show Mr. Trump still leading his rivals by a wide margin in the race.
Judge Chutkan's decision means Mr Trump could face trial in at least three separate criminal cases as he campaigns for the 2024 US election in November 2024, where he is likely to face off against incumbent President Joe Biden from the Democratic Party.
Under previous rulings, Mr. Trump is scheduled to appear in court in New York on March 25 on state charges in the case of concealing hush money payments to a porn star.
A third trial is scheduled for May 20, 2024, in a federal case in Florida that accuses Trump of illegally retaining classified records after leaving the White House and attempting to obstruct justice.
A date has not yet been set for Mr Trump’s fourth criminal trial in Georgia, which is aimed at overturning the election results. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis had proposed March 4, but Judge Chutkan’s decision means that date could change.
In addition to the four criminal cases, Mr. Trump is also a defendant in three other civil trials, scheduled to take place within the next six months.
