On March 2, Ms. Uong Thi Hoang Lin (born in 1993, residing in Khue Ngoc Dien commune, Krong Bong district) confirmed that she had just sent a petition to the police agency requesting clarification on the case of a group of female students beating her daughter, then filming the clip and posting it on social media.

According to Ms. Lin, at around 4:00 p.m. on February 28, her daughter, Tran Nhat Thu T., a student at Khue Ngoc Dien Secondary School, was taken to drink milk tea by a friend named KO (living in Cu Kty commune). When she reached the suspension bridge in Hoa Le commune, T. was attacked by a group of female students led by Nguyen Thi Hong D. (class 9A, Hoa Le Secondary School).

"My child was alone so he couldn't resist and now his whole body is bruised, especially his head, and he is in a state of panic. He is being monitored and treated at the hospital," said Ms. Lin.

According to Lin’s daughter, the incident was related to a challenge to fight online. After being beaten, T. hid it from her family. The family only found out about it because the group of girls who beat her posted a clip of the abuse on social media.

Mr. Vo Thanh Hai, Deputy Chief of Cu Kty Commune Police, said that the unit had received the complaint from Ms. Uong Thi Hoang Lin and had initially worked with the parents.

"We are verifying and clarifying the cause of the female student being beaten," said Mr. Vo Thanh Hai.

A clip showing T. being dragged along the street by a group of female students and repeatedly beaten with helmets appeared on Facebook on February 28. The clip shows that many other female students were present at the scene but did not intervene.
