On the afternoon of March 4, the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) announced that MSIG Insurance Company will become the main sponsor of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship. This is a historic milestone for women's football in the region because this is the first time the regional tournament has an official sponsor in its 20 years of existence.
The AFF Women's Championship has been around since 2004, with 12 editions. In recent years, as women's sports have become a global focus, the achievements of Southeast Asian women's teams have gradually been affirmed at the international level. Thailand participated in the Women's World Cup in 2015 and 2019, and the Philippines and Vietnam in 2023.
The Southeast Asian Women's Championship has a sponsor for the first time.
“ Our goal through this partnership is clear: to elevate women’s football – not just within the region, but across the world. From supporting female athletes in Japan, to providing innovative solutions for communities across the region, MSIG is committed to driving progress, both on and off the pitch,” said Clemens Philippi, Managing Director of MSIG Asia.
Mr. Khiev Sameth – President of the Southeast Asian Football Federation assessed that this event has a special impact on the image of women's football in the region. From here, the teams will have more motivation to develop when the position of "pink balls" in football is increasingly enhanced.
The 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship (ASEAN MSIG Serenity Cup) has the participation of 7 teams including: Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Singapore and Australia.
The Vietnamese women's team still has a strong squad with many players who participated in the last World Cup. At the same time, Mr. Mai Duc Chung continues to be the head coach and leads his students. The goal of the Vietnamese team is still to win the championship of the tournament.
