Nguyet Thanh said her passion for scientific research was nurtured since she was a medical student. "In 2017, I carried out a project on the living organ source community and won second prize in the Creative Solutions for Community Health Competition. At that time, I was praised by Associate Professor, Doctor, and Physician Tran Van Thuan (currently Deputy Minister of Health - PV ): "I highly appreciate your project". That compliment fueled my motivation to dare to think and dare to do scientific research", Thanh shared.
It is this "dare" that has helped this young female doctor conduct many scientific research projects in the field of medicine and health sciences, become a delegate to the 2020 ASEAN Young Scientists Conference, and have articles published in prestigious medical science journals...
While many people pursue the path of academic scientific research, Thanh admits that he "has a slightly different path". Thanh likes to do scientific research that applies to the community, thereby solving difficult problems in practice to help improve the quality of patient treatment.
Thanh shared: "The reason I like scientific research is because if I keep doing the same thing over and over again every day, it's... very boring. Scientific research will help me find new things, suitable for the strong changes and developments of evidence-based medicine...".
"I love this city so much"
Nguyet Thanh calls herself a "girl who travels a lot". The proof is that Thanh has set foot in 20 countries around the world with international youth and student exchange activities... Soon, she will be a member of the delegation of Southeast Asian countries participating in activities to celebrate 50 years of cooperation between Japan and ASEAN.
"Each trip is a new and unique experience, but ultimately it helps me grow, mature and gain more life experience. Besides, I get to learn and receive a lot of valuable knowledge," Thanh said.

Also from the trips, Thanh realized: "Vietnamese youth are good. However, there are still many "negative points", such as knowing a lot but not understanding deeply about a specific issue. Besides, there are young people who lack confidence, are afraid to speak, and do not dare to give their opinions to debate for fear of being wrong. If these things can be improved, the image of Vietnamese youth in the eyes of international friends will be much better".
Talking to this young lieutenant and doctor, it is easy to realize two things. One is that Thanh likes to talk about young people, and two is that she always talks about Ho Chi Minh City with pride. "I love this city so much," Thanh confided.
Because of love, Thanh confided: "Now and in the future, I will always try to contribute to the city's development through my expertise, scientific research and community projects...".
Regarding the future, Thanh said he hopes to carry out a nationwide campaign to help people better understand organ and tissue donation and transplantation. The aim is to increase the number of donated organs as well as the success of organ donation and transplantation in Vietnam.
