The tool, called MX Workmate, is based on a large language model (LLM) and is an extension of the telecommunications technology the Finnish company is offering to industrial customers.
New features include early warning of problems and suggested maintenance solutions, improving quality and productivity or resolving factory accidents, said Stephane Daeuble, director of enterprise solutions marketing at Nokia.
The Finnish company is currently providing 4G and 5G technology that allows businesses to connect internal data between sensors equipped on machines.
“Our idea is to create an assistant that can help workers leverage the value of all the data,” Daeuble shared, emphasizing that this is also a solution to the shortage of high-quality employees.
MX Workmate is designed to comply with operational technology regulations, but it may take additional time for companies to test and customize for specific industries.
While some aspects of the technology are still in the research phase, such as addressing the issue of “AI illusion,” the product “must be accurate, clear, and correct, and must be monitored and moderated,” according to a Nokia representative. For now, the tool will need humans to validate AI prompts as an initial safety feature.
Nokia is expected to unveil the first version of this AI assistant at the upcoming MWC event in Barcelona at the end of February.
