Pepper prices today, October 26, 2024, in the domestic market continued to increase slightly in some key localities, trading from 145,500 - 147,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 145,700 VND/kg.
Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (145,500 VND/kg); Dak Lak (146,700 VND/kg); Dak Nong (147,000 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (146,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (145,500 VND/kg).
Thus, continuing the upward trend, domestic pepper prices today continued to increase slightly in some key growing areas, increasing by 500 - 1,000 VND/kg. The highest pepper price was at 147,000 VND/kg.
Currently, pepper gardens in Ba Ria - Vung Tau are in the fruit-growing stage to prepare for next year's harvest. However, before that, due to the impact of unfavorable weather, pepper flowers fell off, so the fruit-setting rate was low, and the risk of crop failure was high. Many farmers are worried because the current pepper price is high, around 150,000 VND/kg, so profits will decrease sharply.
According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the pepper growing area is currently about 10,500 hectares. Although pepper prices have started to increase again since the 2023 crop year, farmers have focused on investing and caring for pepper plants, but due to the impact of the weather, it is forecasted that this year's pepper crop will have a sharp decrease in output compared to last year.
The local agricultural sector recommends that people focus on taking care of healthy and suitable pepper gardens to stabilize production. Areas of infected and dead pepper should not be replanted, but should be converted to other suitable crops.
According to the Binh Phuoc Provincial Statistics Office, from the beginning of 2024 to now, the province's pepper growing area has decreased by 709 hectares compared to the same period in 2023. Currently, the whole province has 12,878 hectares, with an estimated output of 22,616 tons (down 874 tons compared to the same period last year).
The reason is that due to low prices, people do not invest much in care, leading to poor growth and disease. Some pepper areas have been converted by people to grow fruit trees and crops.
In the world market, at the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 6,739 USD/ton, up 0.18%; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 6,400 USD/ton; the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 8,500 USD/ton, down 200 USD/ton.
Muntok white pepper price is 9,226 USD/ton, up 0.17%; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is at 11,000 USD/ton, down 200 USD/ton.
Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 6,500 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 6,800 USD/ton; white pepper price at 9,500 USD/ton. IPC adjusted Indonesian pepper price up again, while it decreased in Malaysia.
