Experts say that in the coming time, supply is expected to increase combined with weak international demand, which could put pressure on pepper prices unless international demand improves.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), by the end of February 2025, Vietnam had exported 27,416 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 22,360 tons and white pepper reached 5,056 tons.
Total export turnover reached 184.9 million USD, white pepper reached 37.0 million USD. Compared to the same period in 2024, export volume decreased by 11.9%, but export turnover increased by 48.1%. The average export price of black pepper reached 6,648 USD/ton and white pepper reached 8,501 USD/ton.

With its leading position in the world, Vietnam is not only a country exporting raw materials but is also shifting to developing deeply processed products, increasing export value. However, this item also faces many challenges, from climate change, pressure from harmful organisms, increasingly strict quality requirements from the international market, and increasing transportation costs.
Currently, the pepper growing area in Vietnam is only 15% of the coffee area and 12% of the rubber area, but the export value contributes 23% to the coffee industry (5.6 billion USD) and 38% to the rubber industry (3.4 billion USD). This shows the great potential of the pepper industry if invested in the right direction and increased added value.
The International Trade Center (ITC) said that the global market for spices and mixed spice products could grow at over 5.2% per year in the 2025-2030 period, with an estimated value of nearly 21 billion USD in 2025 and expected to increase to nearly 27 billion USD by 2030.
