On March 9, right-wing Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that US President Donald Trump's plan to relocate millions of Gazans to other countries is "taking shape", but admitted that it would be a large-scale logistical task.

Speaking at a parliamentary event, Mr Smotrich said: "This plan is taking shape, with actions underway in coordination with the administration... It involves identifying key countries, understanding their interests - both with the US and with us - and promoting cooperation."
Preparations are underway to set up a large-scale agency to oversee the relocation, he added.
In a related development, on the same day, Reuters reported that the foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy and Britain said they supported a plan backed by Arab leaders to rebuild the Gaza Strip, which is expected to cost $53 billion but avoid displacing Palestinians from the enclave.
“This plan presents a realistic path to rebuilding Gaza and promises – if implemented – rapid and sustainable improvements in living conditions for Palestinians in Gaza,” the ministers said in a joint statement.
A statement issued by the four European countries on March 8 said they were "committed to cooperating with the Arab initiative" and that they appreciated the "important signal" that Arab states had sent by developing the initiative.
The plan, drawn up by Egypt and approved by Arab leaders, was rejected by Israel and US President Donald Trump.
The Egyptian proposal envisions the creation of an administrative committee of independent, professional Palestinian technocrats tasked with managing Gaza after the Gaza war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas ends.
The committee will be responsible for overseeing humanitarian aid and managing Gaza affairs for a temporary period under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority.
