With the skillful hands of cadres and women's union members, the inter-village and inter-commune roads of Kim Son district have become brilliant with flowers, creating a bright - green - clean - beautiful landscape, contributing to the implementation of the new rural construction program in the locality.
Along the main road of An Hoa commune, not only is it paved with wide hard asphalt, but it is also decorated with colorful bougainvillea pots, creating a bright, green, and clean space. After 4 years of launching, the "Women's Flower Street" model has spread and received positive response from many members and women in the commune.
Comrade Tran Thi Thu Hoai, Vice President of the Women's Union of An Hoa commune, said: "Implementing the direction of the Women's Union at all levels, in recent times, the cadres and members of the Women's Union of An Hoa commune have actively responded to movements and campaigns such as "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's", "Clean house, beautiful road", "Green Saturday, Clean Sunday", focusing on building flower roads and women's tree roads.
Up to now, the whole commune has 10/14 hamlets with flower roads with a total length of nearly 7 km, 1 road of Bauhinia trees in hamlet 13 with a length of nearly 1 km". Due to natural conditions, many roads in the commune have a canal on one side that is quite dangerous if there is no fence. To renovate, the Women's Union of An Hoa commune has planted many pots of bougainvillea, creating both a beautiful landscape and a safe barrier. On holidays, Tet or important occasions, the road has flowers blooming on one side and flags fluttering on the other, making the atmosphere bustling and full of life.
In Hung Tien commune, the Party Committee, government and people are actively improving the landscape, striving to complete the criteria so that the locality can soon reach the advanced new rural commune standards early next year. In this effort, it is impossible not to mention the contributions of cadres and women's union members.
Comrade Dinh Thi Hue, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Hung Tien commune, shared: "The environmental criterion is one of the hard criteria in building advanced new rural areas. In the past time, the Women's Union of the commune has actively participated in many activities to contribute with the Party Committee, government and people in the commune to complete this criterion, focusing on building tree-lined roads and women's flower roads.
In 2023, the Commune Women's Union built two "Women's Flower Road" models in hamlets 10 and 11, planting 65 new pots of bougainvillea, roses and peonies. In coordination with the Commune Veterans Association, we planted 500 new casuarina trees and 20 red bauhinia trees. From now until the end of the year, we aim to plant flowers on the entire 4 km long inter-village road."
According to the Women's Union of communes in Kim Son district, before the flower roads, environmental pollution and traffic insecurity in the area often occurred. The flower roads created a belt separating roads from fields and rivers, people were more careful when traveling, so there were almost no traffic accidents. In addition, when the flower roads were built, environmental pollution was significantly reduced, and people's awareness of environmental protection was also raised. "Before the flower roads, littering still occurred on the roads and rivers. After the District Women's Union launched the flower and tree planting campaign, the women's associations contributed their efforts and labor, unanimously took care of and created beautiful flower roads, while at the same time propagating and mobilizing people to join hands in protecting the environment.
On weekends, the branches mobilize 50-60 members and people to participate in cleaning village roads, taking care of tree-lined roads and flower roads," added Ms. Tran Thi Thu Hoai, Vice President of the Women's Union of An Hoa commune. In recent years, implementing the campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean" and the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, the Women's Union of Kim Son district has implemented many meaningful projects and tasks, including promoting the flower planting movement on inter-village and inter-commune roads.
Comrade Dao Thi Thanh Thom, Vice President of the Kim Son District Women's Union, shared: The District Women's Union always considers environmental sanitation as one of the key tasks, in which the construction of self-managed women's roads has been actively responded to by all levels of the Union in the district. The District Women's Union regularly propagates and assigns targets to the Union bases to build at least 1 tree-lined or flower-lined road each year to contribute to building a bright - green - clean - beautiful environment as well as joining hands to build new rural areas in the locality.
Currently, Kim Son district maintains 16 tree-lined roads with a length of 23.8 km and 25 flower-lined roads with a length of 24.2 km. Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, the Women's Union at all levels in the district will continue to review and build more new tree-lined roads and flower-lined roads, covering many rural areas with colorful flowers and leaves.
With the care of women, rural roads in Kim Son district are increasingly clean, beautiful and peaceful. Thereby, gradually changing people's awareness, helping each person to be aware of protecting the environment, joining hands with the locality to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas.
