Specifically, at around 10:00 a.m. on October 23, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang (59 years old, living in zone 4, Xuan Lung commune, Lam Thao district) discovered that the Tam Bao temple of Pho Quang pagoda was on fire.
When he ran into the temple, Mr. Quang saw a fire breaking out in the front left corner of the Tam Bao temple. At that time, Mr. Quang shouted and together with the people around the temple used fire extinguishers and available tools to put out the fire.
However, the fire was not extinguished and continued to spread to surrounding areas. Immediately after that, Mr. Quang called the authorities to report.
Upon receiving the news, Lam Thao District People's Committee directed the functional forces to notify Lam Thao Superphosphate and Chemical Joint Stock Company to coordinate in deploying fire trucks, and at the same time report and propose to Phu Tho Provincial Police to direct the mobilization of fire fighting vehicles.
The authorities have directed and mobilized functional forces and people to be present at the scene to carry out fire fighting, ensure security and order, traffic safety, protect the scene and conduct an initial investigation of the cause of the incident.
At around 10:15, the Fire and Rescue Police force arrived at the scene. By 11:40, the fire was under control and extinguished.
Initial investigation determined that all the wooden parts, roof tiles, and electrical systems were burned down, and the clay and wooden statues in the Tam Bao temple were damaged by the heat. The total estimated material damage was about 25 billion VND.
Currently, the authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify the cause of the incident.
