Within the framework of the official visit to Cuba from August 22-24, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Propaganda Department, coordinated with the Communist Party of Cuba to organize a workshop on the contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro to the Vietnam-Cuba brotherhood.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia commented that the presentations of the Director of the Center for Military History Research, Lieutenant Colonel José M. Cereijo Torres, and former Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Fredesmán Turro González highlighted the great stature and noble values in the revolutionary ideology of President Ho Chi Minh and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.
The Head of the Central Propaganda Department emphasized that there are many similarities between the two revolutionary personalities and ideologies. President Ho Chi Minh and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro were both pioneers who paved the way and led the way in the struggle for human dignity, the uncompromising struggle against colonialism, oppression and injustice.
President Ho Chi Minh and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro not only fought and devoted their entire lives to the cause of national liberation of Vietnam and Cuba, but also guided the Vietnamese and Cuban people on the path of fighting for liberation thoroughly, firmly ensuring independence, freedom and happiness for all people - a path that links national independence and socialism.

For his part, Comrade Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Ideological Department of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, highlighted the need to promote the ideology of Leader Fidel and President Ho Chi Minh, who laid the foundation for the Cuba-Vietnam relationship, a special, loyal, pure friendship that is rare in international relations.

During the visit, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia and the delegation paid courtesy calls on Comrade Roberto Morales Ojeda, Politburo member, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Cuba, and Comrade Salvador Valdés Mesa, Politburo member, Vice President of Cuba; met Comrade Homero Acosta Álvarez, Secretary General of the National Assembly and Council of State of Cuba; and worked with Comrade Alfonso Noya Martínez, President of the Cuban Institute of Information and Social Communications.
During the meetings, the delegation emphasized that the purpose of the visit was to contribute to consolidating and tightening the special friendship with the Communist Party of Cuba; promoting cooperation on Party channels; exchanging and sharing experiences in theoretical research, political, ideological and ethical education; information, propaganda, protecting ideological foundations, fighting against false and distorted information; and strengthening cooperation in many fields.

The Cuban leaders warmly welcomed the delegation; highlighted the significance of Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia's first visit as Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Propaganda Department to the "Island of Freedom", especially in the context that Cuba has just organized activities to celebrate the 97th anniversary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro (August 13, 1926 - August 13, 2023) and the 70th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada fortress (July 26, 1953 - July 26, 2023), an event that marked the awakening moment of the entire Latin America, the beginning of the Cuban Revolution and the rise of Latin American countries to fight for national independence.

At the meeting with officials from the Embassy, Vietnamese agencies, students and overseas Vietnamese in Cuba, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia informed the main points of the viewpoints, policies and guidelines of the Party and State, the socio-economic development, foreign affairs and international integration of the country; visited and listened to the proposals of young people, businesses and compatriots living far from the Fatherland.
Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia highly appreciated the contributions and achievements of the Embassy and representative agencies in the past time; encouraged the staff of the Embassy and representative agencies to continue to make efforts to better fulfill the political tasks assigned by the Party and State.
He also shared the aspirations of overseas Vietnamese, hoping that they would continue to integrate well with the host country, while also looking towards their homeland and promoting their important role as a bridge to further strengthen the Vietnam-Cuba friendship.
